Tough to know, seems to be some parody in the tourney over the last few years. If Canada can clean up their game in some areas they have as good a chance as any. I was watching highlights of Latvia’s tying goal which was an amateur defensive zone breakdown to say the least involving McKenna, Hage, Brunicke and Carels. I think the team who wins will be the the team who manages their own end the best. Canada seems to be inflicted with the Keystone Cops disease at times. And ffs, improve on the sloppy passing and blind passing. Need to manage the unecessary turnovers. If they clean that up they can beat anyone. In short, they ain’t helping themselves, they are beating themselves so to speak.

How much has the talent and the coaching at the rest of the world level created some of what we see Chef?

The Swiss gave the US a good run as well yesterday.

Clearly these "throw in" Nations have become increasingly better in the last decade or so.

I have to agree with chefs assessment. The talents there, they just need to get organised and play more as a team.

Maybe lack of prep as a team.
I guess that could be partially labeled as coaching.
The Czechs might surprise this year. Big & fast.

Remember most of our kids play 80 games on 140 different teams, and never practice.

It's a system that probably isn't any longer conducive to winning big tournaments like this.

That is why I suggested parody. What beats parody is the team who comes together quicker than others playing a good overall disciplined and sound team game every shift. Star players ain’t doing it alone like they used to and that may be our Achilles heel, our dependency on that. Canadian players tend to go rogue and try to win it by themselves. This is one area of McKennas game I respect, he tends to use others, a very unselfish player, need more of that from others, uh Parekh…I’m taking to you.

Me too for the most part. Where I take issue with him is his constant bashing of 17 - 19 year old kids and pure vitriol against the country he lives in. And like others have said., these other countries are getting better. It's like soccer on a far smaller scale.

The irony of you using parody in lieu of parity speaks to the wonder of this here GDHTMB.

But Team Canada has always been like this. We use to be able to ice 2 or 3 all-star teams in any kind of tournament due to the abundance of depth to choose from. Just like an ASG where people show up and win on skill alone without breaking a sweat.

Yes, a lack of time for real prep work. Mesh with guys you never played with and learn some systems play. Voila! Everyone expects gold.

Czechia looked very good except for their goaltending.
