Yeah. It's not much different, except, ICE is arresting illegals, and not their own citizens. Biden left a big mess, and Trump is doing a shitty job of cleaning it up.

Except that citizens are getting caught up in the 'raids' - it's an overly heavy-handed response to invoke fear, and not just deport the 'worst of the worst'. When they're arresting people who are going to their legally appointed court hearings, pulling them out of the lineup just before taking an oath of citizenship, you know they're just grabbing anyone they can to meet Steve Miller's imposed "3000 a day" quota.

It's a fucking nightmare. It's bullshit. There's a right way, and a wrong way to do anything - and in this case, I can't imagine a worse way.

It is not just USA or Canada but though out the world, countries that have opened their borders to accept so many are now paying the price with such a lack of control. Canada Immigration doesn't even know how many people are here past their visa or work permit and that is not acceptable.

15 people who are "extortion suspects" applied for refugee status, this is not acceptable and if they have enough evidence against them a plane ticket needs to be bought and they should be gone before end of the year.

Yeah, they have caught and detained a few by mistake or kinda by mistake. But, it’s a pretty small number compares to the illegals. I don’t agree with a lot of the tactics and I am sure they scooped a few undesirables up too. But, Hitler probably grabbed a few non-Jews as well by mistake when they were still only taking Jews. Not comparing the 2 events, except both were rounding up identifiable groups.

Populist leader dismissed by the elites takes power. Starts shifting more and more power from the legislative to the executive branch. Blames all problems on minority groups and suggests problems can be solved by eliminating them from the country. Lets a specialised police unit round up "suspects" and detain them without due process, such as right to attorney, presumption of innocence or the right to a trial. Even breaking into their homes without a warrant.

Harassment of Jews started in 1933 in Germany. The industrial killing of them started in 1942.

We're still in the early stages, where it is mostly about dehumanising minorities and stripping them of the rights that have been considered universal but now become reserved only for people who have the right ethnicity. A lot of Americans seem to think that due process rights only apply to citizens. That's wrong. The constitution grants these rights to everyone. As it should. How do you prove your innocence when there is no due process? When the accusation in itself is a verdict? Abandoning due process leads to lawlessness.

The idea that it is OK or normal to manhandle a young Latina on her way to work and detain her for not having ID on her is mind numbing.

And yes, it is about ethnicity. Both Melania Trump and Elon Musk have violated US immigration law by overstaying their visas and working while on a tourist (Melania) or student (Elon) visa. I don't see them being detained.

Btw, of the people detained in German concentration camps 1933-34 roughly 80% were political opponents, mainly communists and socialists. The initial focus when it came to the Jews was to make them leave the country. But as other countries refused to take them in, the Germans started rounding them up methodically and eventually came up with their "final solution" in 1942, building extermination camps in Poland and Czechoslovakia. The concentration camps on German soil remained regular detention centres or work camps throughout the war.
