Muzac For Munsters

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

I saw Neil at the pacific coliseum during that cheesy Shocking Pinks phase of his - he did a set of Standard Neil stuff which saved the show.

Old Man is a helluva tune, prime Neil. That concert he put on where that video came from is really good, if you haven’t seen the whole thing, I highly suggest. It captures Neil at his best.

I always chuckle when I see Neil all coked up in the Last Waltz.

And looks like they were all taking turns on Joni.

Sorry, my bad, had to throw it in there. The 70’s man! Free love!!!

This article might be behind a paywall - but it's a great story about a music store in LA during the rise of "California Rock" - it's an interesting snapshot of a time, when brick and mortar stores were important, and a 'scene' unto themselves.

Nevermind the classics, pre 2,000. What are your favourite albums of the 21st century? The last 25 years? It’s a tougher list for us old farts to come up with but there are some good albums that came out in the 21st century.

I think this is my favorite tune of all time now:

(What's the secret to embedding to the YouTube button these days????)

You tube doesn't seem to embed properly, like it used - I'll see about finding a new method.

Until then - method was: [ youtube]https://youtu.be/aEoOma9QFoU?si=87Ws_t_jQVsMiV6y[/youtube] (no space after the first bracket)

EDIT: So it seems that there is a somewhat new issue the came up to every site recently. If a site embeds a YT video, they want to track what site is showing it. It seems like a somewhat easy fix, but it's a "Brian-Level" fix. I'll check with him and see what he can do.

Not sure how I missed this - but there's a compilation out there called "Punk Floyd" - punk covers of Floyd songs

Here's a sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1lav4TF0Q8 - Hey You · Anti-Nowhere League

and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-AGOqyP_Tk - Comfortably Numb · UK Subs

The Kinks are truly one of a kind and deserve to be up there with the greats, in my opinion they are the original Indie band, quirky, marching to their own beat. Most of their great songs were written by Rick Davies but I always liked the few that brother Dave wrote especially this one:

Ray?

You might be mixing Supertramp in there.

Saw Ray do a storytellers gig at the Orpheum.

Went down after the show, shook his hand and shot the shit for a few minutes.

Thanked him for his service lol.

Edit....my bad...it was The Vogue actually I think.

One of the Violent Femmes shows I saw over the years was also at The Vogue.

Cool place for a gig....

Donny, you’re worse than my wife when it comes to correcting my old man writings. I think you get what I’m putting down.

Waterloo Sunset is one of my all time favourite songs, probably up in my top 10 classic songs list. As someone who plays guitar this is a difficult song to play. The Kinks musicianship was extraordinary and underrated.
