Free Agent "Frenzy" Day

Post by Cornuck »

Happy Canada Day to y'all.

With all of the big fish out of the water, it should be a quiet day - but hopefully there will be a notable move or two around the league today.

As expected, Demko (3x8.5m) and Garland (6x6m) are signed.

Where's Brock going to end up?

For me it has always been about the secondary market as teams reasses their caps and rosters after the July 1st frenzy which could extend into training camp....

Have some patience....

Take care...

Canes extend Stankovrn - 8 years $6 million per

Vegas Marner - 8 years - $96 million

Demko - 3 years $8.5 million per year. Canucks have $13 million tied up in goalies

Vegas rumoured to be hot on the heels of Rasmus Andersson.

Montreal trades Mailloux to the Blues.

Thinking the Canucks land on one of centres:

Roslovic
Dvorak
Granlund
Bjugstad

Good times, I’ll be ordering my season ticket package shortly!

Jake Allen reups in New Jersey -- 5 years, 1.8M AAV. Given that he's 34, it might be more reasonable to think of this as providing 3 year 3M value at a 1.8 AAV, and if Allen starts an age decline or gets the yips, more than 2/3rds of the AAV can be buried in the minors once the league minimum salary increases.

Allen probably could have made more elsewhere, so this is below market for "good backup," but that market surely isn't 5 years at 4.5M AAV and a NMC....

Wouldn't want that player at that cost. But Suter's probably grinning ear to ear.

Arvidsson in Boston -- another possible "match" for Boeser (like LA and Kuzmenko) filled with a kind of sort of scorer.

Rumours the Canucks have re-signed Boeser!!! Didn’t see that one coming.

Official:

7.25 mil per for 7 years.

Are you suggesting that Allen is equivilent to Lankinen?...

Or that 5 and $22.5 is not a contract he'd receive if he was on the market today?

Take care...
