AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26
Updated for summer action coming this week.
Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26
Mogilny finally in the HHOF. Long overdue.
Chara, Thornton, and Duncan Keith join him. First time on the ballot. I think Chara and Keith were very good, and I found Chara to also be fun to watch in the way a circus is (well, the SCF wasn't fun....), but I'm not convinced either are surefire Hall of Famers. But I don't have to be. I don't have a vote.
Jumbo Joe is quoted by ESPN as having released the following as part of his statement: "Holy doodle, I can't believe that I am receiving this honor." Hilarious. To write that. In a statement. And you know what? That's why it was quoted.

Rangers not exercising their option on the 12th OA pick (the one that went to Vancouver). In other words, it is the Penguins pick.
Could this be the start of a Rangers tear down? A sign that they don't have confidence in their club? Or is it simply that the most likely scenario is for the Rangers to finish in the middle third of the league, and that even if they are in the playoff part of that cohort, they like what could be available at 20 more than they like what will be available at 12 this year. And if they overperform, then they have a first round pick to trade to fortify the team for a playoff run.
As for the Pens, now things are really interesting. They could probably package those picks if they are interested in any of the guys right after Schaeffer and Misa -- there are a lot of rumors that teams may be willing to move.
