I think he needs a change. Love the person, mostly like the player, but he needs to turn the page for his own sake. I think Brock is a 30G/60PT player if he's paired with any legit top-6 centerman. More than that with the right guy as his linemate. His skating is average, but he still plays a smart 200 foot game and isn't afraid of the boards or the front of the net. I personally don't think his skating will drop off, I think he has that "steam engine" quality that just keeps chugging.....never blows you away but also doesn't just quit. If his ask is too high, well the team needs to move on because of our internal cap recapture problems and greater needs.
I agree. Without a legit C to feed him the puck he's ineffective. Unless the Canucks somehow manage to get a legit top-6 C for him to play with,
they're better off letting him walk.

Which, in my opinion, is why he should be at best a 5mill/yr complimentary winger. He's not a play driver he's a B- finisher.
Loser teams always seem to have these guys playing underwhelmingly in their top 6

The going rate for top-6 guys used to be about $100K per point, or $1M per 10 points. Goals usually weight heavier. The rate has gone up the past few years.
With Miller Brock was a 40G/75PT winger. That's $8.5M when factoring the 40G.
Looking at his career, and taking into consideration linemates, quality of team, injuries, and games played, Brock is (reasonably) a 30G/60PT guy. He probably commands $7M in today's marketplace. That's kinda the going rate for support scorers who can play top-line minutes.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Chytil, O’Connor and MPete for Millsey? Not so sure anymore.
U forgot about our new Italian Stallion: Victorino Mancini. He's going to be a HUGE factor and has a chance to be pretty good. Man, when Backlund tried to him the other day, Mancini just protected himself a bit and Backlund took the worse of it and ended up getting injured. It was basically like trying to hit a brick wall, almost to the like of trying to hit Zadorov/Tryamkin. Although I'd prefer to let Mancini slow cook in the minors, gotta like what we're seeing out of him. We got a young, big dood, RS D going forward who has a chance to become a poor man's Parayako.

Doug MacLean is on the radio now all irritated by how there is only one Canadian on the team. I gotta agree. It’s disgusting.
Why does it matter where your passport is from? FFS, doesn't Florida have the least amount of N.A. skaters on their roster? They are a damn wagon.
The Oilers have the most Canadians, and they are a terrible team beyond one Canadian, and one German. Same goes for the Canadians, who have been terrible for years, most of amount of Maple Syrup in their bloodlines - tied with the Oil.
The Wild, Avs and Panthers all have the most Swedes, and Fins respectively and are three of the best teams in the league.
I do think those are exceptions rather than the rule. Florida is the 2nd team with a predominance of European players to be this good in big games, Detroit was the first.
Edmonton is a culture problem.
However, in general, European players do not have that second gear for the playoffs.
Exceptions. Culture problems.
Nope.
Things change Mëds. It isn't the 90s anymore. Clubs with Europeans as leaders/play drivers are starting to win more.
A great example being a Canadian shortly will not be the league's greatest scorer. A Russian will be. The greatest scorer... not from NA.
In the tradition of unnecessarily throwing away assets, I can totally see ownership/management spending futures (probably at least one of our good young D) to reacquire Big Z this offseason. Guessing from Boston's perspective he'd be gettable. Does he have a NTC? He may've chosen not to take the same 5m offered to play here, but this way he'd have no choice. Given the crap we've seen Hughes have to take this year, the need for a deterrent is amped up, and already having extracted Soucy and Desharnais' tickets, then likely not re-upping Forbort could help pave the way.
For the record, I'm not suggesting they should do it. In fact, I was opposed to signing him to that ticket and was happy they didn't because I felt that's way too much for no better than a bottom pair guy. I'm just saying I could totally see them doing something this crazy. Of course this is all moot if he has a NTC, but if not wouldn't surprise me in the least given the way this group operates.

Mancini Paisano could be the dark horse in all of this mayhem. MPete is fine but shoulda waited until draft day and bought his negotiating rights for a 4th rd pick or something. Chytil and O’Connor are not impressing me one iota.

We need forwards, tuzzi. And good ones. No more O,Connor’s, Heinen’s, Sprongs, Joshua’s etc., we need legitimate top two line elite level forwards. It’s a disgusting destitute scene uo front. I can barely watch the train wreck these days. I’m really not sure what Allvin and Rutherford are up to anymore and I don’t think they do either.

20 years ago. I'd agree with you.
Not today.
C’mon Jello, it’s a bit too much. Just one Canadian on the team? Debrusk? Myers is an American. This is not acceptable. I agree the best player doesn’t have to be Canadian, I’d take Kucerov any day as our best player but for fuck sakes do better than just one?! C’man!

It would be nice to see, sure, but you've said it yourself - if we had Kucherov, I'd be super happy. Heck, even if Petey played like it was early 2023 for the rest of his contract, it puts us in a good place. I don't much cheer for the players, as I do the team. And if the teams wins - who cares where they take the cup. (Unless we trade for Cozens, and he brings it up here).

I can't see Ottawa moving on from Cozens very easily. That trade did not strike me as a rental deal.
The Canucks missed the boat.....again.

I don't believe the Baldies were ever interested in Cozens, he's Canadian.
Josh Norris fits the profile better as a Baldy target in my opinion.
Hughes best friend factor played into why they targeted Norris. I also think Norris is a better player than Cozens but unfortunately he is very injury prone. Cozens would’ve be available if he wasn’t playing so shitty for two seasons now. I doubt Cozens recovers. It’s a sad off between him and Norris - one player is injury prone and one player isn’t meeting his lofty expectations from when he was drafted. You pick Norris because of the Hughes connection, the Norris interest was more about Hughes and resigning him.
