The Hypothetical Arm-Chair Retool.
Just for shits and giggles around here. Not looking for what the return could/should/would be, just wondering who you would move out and why.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
Re: The Hypothetical Arm-Chair Retool.
I went with Miller, Boeser and Hoglander for 3 different reasons.
Miller since he seems to be going from moody to needing medication.
Boeser since he's slowing down, and can't handle a puck under pressure. The goals are still there, and with a good, consistent setup man he's still dangerous. But for the cost, I don't see the value any more. Unless he gets back with EP40 and starts filling the net, shop him.
Hoglander since he might have some value to a GM who sees the potential.
No idea what the returns would be, but I think Boeser at the deadline would give us the most.

Miller because he's too old (compared to Hughes).
Boeser if he doesn't give a hometown discount.
Hoggy because it seems he won't ever be a top 6 nor a consistent lunch bucket bottom 6 type you find on SC winning teams.
Demko because I'm not sold on the absolute necessity of having a Vezina calibre tender.
Boeser if he doesn't give a hometown discount.

Hoglander is a minimal value asset from my perspective. An add on in a bigger deal although that shitty contract number doesnt help.
Boeser does not skate well enough for the new game.
Been saying that forever now....

Re: The Hypothetical Arm-Chair Retool.
Boeser is like Toffoli in that respect. He has great anticipation to be in the right spots at the right time, which makes up for the poor skating. But I also like that he's great on the boards. I'm a fan, at the right price.
Re: The Hypothetical Arm-Chair Retool.
Fair, but the league Toffoli succeeded in is rapidly changing.
Boeser at 8 more years the way he skates is a big risk (to me).
In 3 years he might look stationary out there.
Great to be good along the boards as long as you can get there.
I would not sign him long term.
Not sure what the right price means?
6 for 8?
Why would he do something like that?

Boeser is slow like Luc Robitaille, who once scored 62 goals
…. with Wayne Gretzky.
Cheap keep him, expensive trade him.
Miller is back to his play 2 1/2 years ago before he got hot and had career years playing a solid two way game. Back then he sucked and never back checked. He could be just slowing down to that level of play from here on out. For the rest of his career. If they can, trade him before other GMs figure that out.

I'm keeping Miller and Pettersson. Figure it out whiney bitches. That one/two punch was dynamite as recently as 13 months ago so get your shit together
I move Demko and Boeser. Slow, plodding Brickfoot Boeser already looks 40 out there so why not sign an aging vet every summer for 1 year at a time and save ourselves the angst of watching the dude struggle?
Demko ever regaining his form is not a given. For the $$$$ sign Wank for 4 or 5/per and reallocate those resources to that fucking defense already. Christ on a Trike!!!

Re: The Hypothetical Arm-Chair Retool.
Well this is where I'm putting my money down. I have complete confidence in their return to form if they can grow the fuck up.
That defense is already the shittiest group in the entire NHL. Its pretty clear to me what they need. More than weakening their strength down the middle

Re: The Hypothetical Arm-Chair Retool.
Again...no one is talking about weakening an area of strength....using a viable, desired asset to obtain a C AND a D to even out the load is what the conversation is.

Re: The Hypothetical Arm-Chair Retool.
This group has gone through two coaches whose approach to coaching are polar opposite’s. Boudreau leaves ths guys alone, let’s them run loose, doesn’t over coach, etc. Tocchet is overbearing, hammers the guys over the details of the game, so the players play tight but if they follow the system success csn be had.
I do think both have their faults. Coaches like Tocchet can be quite successful early but there is the danger of players getting tired of and to eventually tuning them out.
I do wonder how much of this recent disheveled shitty play has to do with Tocchet’s overbearing coaching style. Are the players tuning him out?

Re: The Hypothetical Arm-Chair Retool.
If it's Mercer replacing Miller it's a massive step back though. He's a 3rd line winger on a strong team right now. He's plateau'd as a depth piece.
If it was Hirschier no problem but there's no way in hell they do that one.
What else is out there? Lafrenyay? That shrimp in Columbus?
Miller is fresh off a dominant season but can't get his coconut in order. Find a coconut whisperer then FFS

As far as I'm concerned you shop around for a proven coach that can push the right buttons. Tocchet just looks defeated and out of answers.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 1:50 pm This group has gone through two coaches whose approach to coaching are polar opposite’s. It's a shame as he was what they needed but if he's pissing off the stars to the point they're pouting of checking out it's the one move the management can make that could potentially turn the ship around. Look at the coilers after the transvestite was ditched
