Chilcotin River blocked south of Hanceville by a landslide last night following a storm that brought 3cm of rain. Photos of the area show a traditional debris fan that moved in an area that that has seen forest fire activity in the recent years. The area was also decimated by pine beetle kill.
A natural processes, endemic pine beetle kill followed by fire then landslide. A friend of mine used to do forest and range work in that area for the Provincial government. He's told me of native elders describing the region as a grassland when they were young. The cycle continues
This is similar to the slide that blocked the Fraser in 2019 at Big Bar and has been the scene of massive rehab work ever since.
Chilcotin is a very important salmon river and pretty much controlled by the aboriginals. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ wil flow.
Photo of slide

BTW, head west out of Williams Lake and then south just across the Chilcotin at Farwell Canyon. A very cool and little known area of BC.
Looking east at the confluence of the Chilcotin and Fraser

Gang ranch, Farwell canyon area is an old favorite of mine for getting away from people. Still wild but if the masses start finding it it'll be lost

The natives are very restless out that way and not afraid to take up arms. Still the wild wild west.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 12:01 pm Gang ranch, Farwell canyon area is an old favorite of mine for getting away from people. I haven't been there in around 4 years, but the new owners of the Gang Ranch (middle East $) have been putting money back into the place and it is starting to look good again.
I worked on a project just south of Farwell and another just south of Churn Creek. Always wanted to drive through Mud Lakes to Lilloet.

It's my retirement funds so I wouldn't call it "playing", but no, I don't invest in indices. It's probably a good idea for most investors though, as long as you dollar cost average in.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 10:31 amYou play the DJIA, S&P 500, Nasdaq Composite, Russell 2,000 Index, NYSE Composite?5thhorseman wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 10:28 amIf you're angry about big companies making outsized profits, then why don't you buy some stock in these companies so you can get a share of the profits too?Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 9:23 am"They'll get it all from you sooner or later 'cause they own this f**kin' place. Are you shorting stocks right now? If the end is coming may as well just liquidate and go to Peru.

Never shorted a stock in my life. Dude, I imagine you are buying and selling all the time in response to the latest trends. And now, the end? What's this about?Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 1:43 pmAre you shorting stocks right now?
