Interwebz rumours have Holland on his way to Chi-town.

Chiclets were talking about it, with ex Chicago coming back to Edmonton ..... if permitted by Gary
Speaking of Chiclets, their season finale show will feature an hour long sit down with Mark Messier. Hopefully they ask why he sucked ass in Vancouver.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

No contract extension for Holland in Edmonton.

So the Capitals acquire Mangiapane from the Flames for a 2d.
Mangiapane has a years remaining on his contract, and is getting paid $5.8 million.
(Like most of the Flames), he had a huge season 3 years ago. But his past couple of seasons are much more in line with what he did prior, making it look like that blow up year might have been more anomaly than growth of a player hitting his prime.
He's not a good enough penalty killer to be a main guy on that unit, though he gets some time. He's not good enough on the power play to get first unit minutes. Reasonable projections are a 20 goal, 40-50 point player if healthy.
He's always looked decent against the Canucks, but I have to think he's pretty overpaid for what he does. Like by at least $1.5 million.
I would have thought dealing Mangiapane might require taking back a similarly distressed asset or adding a sweetner. Not a bad player, but not a good one, and certainly not a $5.8 million one. Apparently, though, I am wrong. The Capitals gave up a 2d rounder in next years draft in exchange for a player whose salary is not only too much for what he brings, but puts them over the cap (albeit not with Backstrom's LTIR). They know this, too, because they own Cap Friendly....
Can we agree the Capitals offseason is a head scratcher so far?

Suter bought out by Dallass... he is now being paid just under 13million by 2 teams to NOT play...
Offer him 1.25 million to play for us?

And now Utah has traded picks to Jersey for John Marino.
They aren't messing around.

Re: Rebooted Around the League - 23/24
Top 4 defensemen are such premium assets these days.
I hate losing Z but the reality is he's a 5 who can spot into the top 4 when needed but is best suited down the order. They seem to have a plan for their space and it surely must be Jake Guentzel.
Miller-Boeser
Pettersson- Guentzel
Garland-Blueger-Joshua
Need way more anger to ride with those 2 open wing jobs to win when it counts though. How the fuck are they going to afford that

Clearing space, but not sure it is for Stamkos.
They are the other team that is rumoured to have interest in Guentzel.

Friedman and the draft talking heads think they'll be taking a run at Guentzel.Picker of Cherries wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2024 9:30 amClearing space, but not sure it is for Stamkos.
