Good for them. I'm all for taking precautions, etc - but at this stage, just play the damned game. If you're susceptible, stay home.

Last international flight made me ill (thanks to the sick person sitting beside for 7 hours) - didn't need COVID for that! :D

Oh, and wash your hands every 7 minutes - you'll be fine.

San Jose Sharks advised by county to cancel game due to coronavirus. They refused.

Uhhh-ohhh, how long until NHL games start getting canceled?

No shit MCP. The Chef is riddled with viruses yet he shows up every day to haul lumber and drywall and he also entertains us and is a proud supporter of the DTES business community.

True, but you don't have to have sex to contract Coronavirus.

Therefore the number of people infected is growing exponentially.

(at a rate that dwarfs that of HIV)

It's not the media that advised cancelling this game...

US school district just south of us cancelled school Mon-Wed of this past week because of a suspected case. While waiting for lab results, the sterilized the schools.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

The worry is the 30-50 year olds in apparently good health that contract it and die. That and the bizarre 27 day incubation period with hardly any symptoms.

This has to be a manufactured bio-weapon...the felching of bat anuses was a red herring

What's the deal with this toilet paper rationing going on. My friend in Australia told me it was happening down there for no apparent reason and then yesterday I get to Safeway and almost all of the paper products have been picked clean?

It's a glorified flu outbreak, but sure there are no vaccines. :|
This means we cannot protect the risk groups the way we usually do.

Death rate is at roughly 2%, a "normal" flu is usually 0.2-1.0%, so yes, it is somewhat deadlier, but the vast majority of those who have died from the corona virus were either older than 70 or had underlying problems (eg cancer patients, people with immuno-deficiencies, etc).

For 80% of those infected it's just like a normal cold.

The problem is that roughly 10% need hospital care, which is going to put a severe strain on hospitals, and may lead to tough decisions on how to accomodate all and what other health care should be down prioritized.

It will also cause a huge problem for third world countries, like eg the USA, that do not have universal health care.
If poor people need to be hospitalized for a fortnight, they may opt out for financial reasons, leading to a far worse outbreak and far more deaths than in countries that take care of all patients without charge.

Relax it’s the 70 year olds and 80 year olds who are dropping like flies from the virus or those with pre existing health issues

If China doesn’t start cleaning up their act for their disgustingly poorly regulated wet markets/live animal markets I’m not opposed to sending a few nukes there for the simple fact of being the worlds incubator of all flu viruses.

Reefer, your thoughts
