No rush to move Boeser unless they get a young elite right shot defenseman, and I’d be looking for a defensive stud more than competition for Hughes’ minutes. Wouldn’t mind seeing our current top nine with Boeser in instead of Louie. Louie’s contract changes to a modified no trade contract this summer and he might be easier to move to a low cap team after his bonus has been paid. On Monday, If Benning pairs Juolevi with Baertschi’s contract and offers it league wide for the best UFA defenseman they can get, they will remove some cap issues and likely get someone decent to play a depth role, and if no decent D are offered they could grab another UFA forward to add more depth to fill their one open roster spot.

It’s absolutely beating a dead horse(s). Funny thing is most of those contracts were terrible right after the ink dried. I’m not complaining about Ferland or Roussel because injuries have really impacted their poor performance. To a lesser degree Sutter but he was a poor target to begin with. Not his fault- he didn’t make the trade or sign himself to his bloated contract. He does put in effort and seems like a good teammate. The other three are just blunders, plain and simple.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 10:08 amNo sense harping on about moving undesirable players or trying to change the past (Eriksson, Beagle, Ferland, Baertschi, Sutter, Roussel), we are trying to move forward. What do you suggest Doyle? Or do just want to keep beating the air thief dead horse?Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 10:01 amI never suggested Boeser for Dumba. I was talking about a guy like Werenski. The pitchfork crew piled on pretty quickly. It’s not a horrible thing to have a couple guys up front who can score goals.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 9:56 amBoeser for Dumba doesn’t solve our cap problems. Not seeing how Jim can just keep trading for or signing big contracts. It’s why I suggested one of the two Russian prospects. I’d suggest Boldy but he looks like shit in College and didn’t even make the top 50Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 9:51 am Hilarious how I suggested that maybe Boeser could be dealt for an elite young D man a year ago and the Chef and his urine crew went fucking bananas about it.
If Toffoli looks great the rest of the way, sign him trade Boeser. He’s the same age as JT Miller, lots of hockey left in him
The cap problems coming are not Boeser’s or Toffoli’s doing. It’s the fact that there is 20 million tied up in bottom six junk or AHL crap. I don’t need to name the names.
There’s got to be something Elmer can do this summer to alleviate some cap space. Trade Boeser for Dobson instead of Kaprizov. Makes a shit ton more sense.
This team getting through a round or two maybe they can deal Sutter without retaining money. Stecher will definitely be gone. Maybe Jake the Snake too. Would be a shame about Virtanen but tough decisions may be coming

Yeah I think in the end Jim has no choice but to tag a prospect along with a bad contract in an off season trade.Cherry Picker wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 10:13 am No rush to move Boeser unless they get a young elite right shot defenseman, and I’d be looking for a defensive stud more than competition for Hughes’ minutes. But with Right Winger Podkolzin coming makes no sense having both Toffoli and Boeser long term, throw in Virtanen. Either it’s bye to Toffoli this summer or sign Toffoli and trade Boeser. Don’t see it any other way

Boeser for Dobson would be a fair trade for both. A move like that has to hinge on if and how much TT wants

If we are signing Toffoli and keeping Boeser long term big seeing where Virtanen, Podkolzin and Lind fit in on the right side. Something has to give. Either sign Toffoli, trade Boeser, they are both similar players. Or keep Boeser and let Toffoli walk
Soderstrom out of Arizona is an option. He looked great at the WJC. Button has him ranked 31st

Patrick Johnston suggested something along the lines of Jake and Demko for Brodin...

Someone floating a rumour that Benning has asked for permission to speak to Barrie's agent. Most probably BS but if true it would suggest to me that the Canucks are about to give up a significant haul for him.
The only HW the Canucks need

No interest in Barrie. We already have one too many small non defensive defencemen.

Why? When they can give up nothing to sign him July 1?Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 1:01 pm Someone floating a rumour that Benning has asked for permission to speak to Barrie's agent. As a rental, I don't see Barrie having much value, maybe a 2nd or a B prospect.
