Yeah it's about as realistic as the Dude comparing Garrison's contract to Girardi's isn't it ? Garrison's contract is the best of all three of those plugs as he only has one more year on it.Tciso wrote:Blobby, how can anyone take you for anything else than an ass clown when you compare those 2 contracts??Blob Mckenzie wrote:Fixed for truthRoyalDude wrote:WOW! Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Neil and Ottawa agree to part ways. He will not be offered a new contract by the Sens. He still wants to play and is now free to look elsewhere, Sens won't make him wait until July 1st.
Avs buyout Beauchemin. He has one year left on his deal at 4.5 cap. Because he was 35 when he signed the deal the full 4.5 will count on the cap. The buyout is over two years at 1.5 per year.

Ouch.
Gotta wonder just how much time Sakic has to turn things around there.

Wow ,Drouin to the Habs for Sergachev and a 2nd.
I'd definitely give up Juolevi and a 2nd for Drouin, not sure that TBay would make that deal however .

Canadiens acquire Jonathan Drouin from Lightning for Mikhail Sergachev

The Montreal Canadiens have acquired Jonathan Drouin and a sixth-round draft pick from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Mikhail Sergachev and a second-round pick.
Don't forget the 6th rounder Tampa threw in
A case of Tampa coveting a young D and needing to make expansion draft moves and being in cap trouble.

Teams have until what Saturday to make roster moves, trades and buyouts, then isn't there a roster/trade freeze?
We could have another couple of days to go to see these moves.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Well, so much for the Drouin-for-Tanev pipe dreams. Don't think Sergachev will help them much next season and Stamkos is not getting any younger, but all other things being equal Montreal gave up more than I think Benning would have been willing or able to offer.
Question is Montreal's blueline isn't getting any younger either, so where is Weber's heir-apparent going to come from?
We'll see how this pans out.
Looks more and more likely that Tanev goes nowhere this summer.

Wonder what the habs are gonna do to acquire a center now? Guessing a NYR deal to land Stepan.
Bob McKenzie:
Just opinion on my part, but if anything, I think this Drouin trade could make it more likely that Alex Galchenyuk will be traded.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

LOL. Now Montreal needs Tanev.

The Montreal Canadiens signed Jonathan Drouin to a six-year, $33-million contract extension several hours after acquiring the forward from the Tampa Bay Lightning in a deal that sent prospect Mikhail Sergachev the other way.
Drouin’s deal comes with a cap hit of $5.5 million per season. The 22-year-old had 53 points in 73 games with the Lightning this past season. The third-overall pick from 2013 was a pending restricted free agent.
