Looks to me like the leaves know. They're rebuild has leapfrogged teams like Winnipeg and Buffalo. I thought they were years ahead of the leaves?

A Leaves fan talking about "a winning team"!

Thanks anyway ole chum, but I'd rather go with the old maxim:

"Build your team from the net out."
None of the elite goalies have cup rings BTW. So maybe that's not true. Is Murray, Crawford, Quick, really the best of the best?
Goalies who win Cups excel when the chips are down in the pressure-cooker that is the NHL playoffs.

Here is a list of the most recent Cup-winning Number Ones:

Murray 2016 .923 (.923 career playoffs)
Crawford 2015 .924 (.920 career playoffs)
Quick 2014 .911 (.921 career playoffs)
Crawford 2013 .932 (.920 career playoffs)
Quick 2012 .946 (.921 career playoffs)
Thomas 2011 .940 (.933 career playoffs)

"From the net out" = Great goalie + great dmen + great defensive forwards (then great scorers).

They've got it assbackwards in Pigtown and you're ass happy ass a pig in shit!

But don't fret, your Leaves are "set", rebuild is over!

Andersen (.915 career playoffs)

Forgot one:
F. Andersen:
GP 5 W 3 L 2 GAA 1.41 Save% .947

And that's the guy you said is horrible in the playoffs, right? He beats all your examples.

Except for the fact that it's a meager 5 game sample size, and that he was playing behind Anaheim in all of those games. But yeah.....no doubt eh!
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

UMMM... gee I wonder what part of this you did not understand:

Strangelove: "Here is a list of the most recent Cup-winning Number Ones"

and

Strangelove: "Andersen (.915 career playoffs)"

Image

(hint: Those 5 games you mention are included in within .915 career playoffs)

Yeah, it wasn't a list of best-season-sv% first-round-losing backups there flakey tuna...

FFS you were the one who brought up Cup-winning Number Ones!

(you were fantasizing about Mr Andersen one day joining that elite group.. remember?)

Doc, do you think he's this dumb on purpose? I mean, is it just part of his Leaf fan Troll shtick? Or.....nevermind. I answered my own question wit "Leaf fan".

I suppose the old saying is true:

leaves are in a playoff spot. They were supposed to be 30th overall. The rebuild is going terribly!

Remember the bet about the Canucks being better than the leaves this season? :D

That bet wasn't with me.

I told you a few times that, as a Leaves-hater, I want the Leaves to do well right up until the deadline.

I said a while back in this thread that I'd like them to make the playoffs (would ruin their rebuild).

YOU pretty much agreed with that last sentence at the time.

They'll likely miss the playoffs, but their pick won't be very high, so it's all good.

(I just didn't want them getting another high pick)

When did I say it would ruin the rebuild? And how does it hurt the rebuild in any way? The draft is crappy this year and all their young players have exceeded expectations. Nothing but great news for the rebuild.

And how would that help the leaves? He'll be too old when they're ready to compete And is under contract until he's 43 years-old.
Didn't you just post earlier today the Leaves would be in the playoffs if it weren't for Bernier?
My point was that competing for the last playoff spot isn't a way to properly build.

Luongo was traded March 4th, 2014... The quote was about the timeframe of that trade.
That was even before Nylander was drafted. The leaves had one of the weakest prospect pools in the entire NHl at that time.
To compare the comments surrounding that timeframe and an aging Luongo to today where they have the NHL's #1 prospect pool is ridiculous.
That's like me pulling up 2011' posts here and laughing at you guys calling the Canucks a cup contender.

.

Whatever Mr Fish, fact is one year ago you said:

"My point was that competing for the last playoff spot isn't a way to properly build."

Fact is your Leaves have a lot of "building" still needs be done.

Fact is making the playoffs this year would screw up the Leaves rebuild.

Fact is you are insane if you think the Leaves don't require more "building".

But hey, hopefully the Shanaplanners agree with you. :mex:
