Tsn4 is all over this right now.

NHL apparently not pleased.
The leaves already have their GM. There's no issue. It'll be Mark Hunter or Kyle Dubas.
Ahhh....So all set then....

I See see no issue with Hunter or Dubas at all.

I had a hard time swallowing that article, because it was fucking terrible.
But for something comparable, let’s have a look back at what happened in Alberta last season, shall we?
Let's not Damian. First of all, you're not the Flames. You don't have young forwards like Gaurdreau and Monohan, you don't have a Mark Giordano. Who in your prospect pool is going to be your Sam Bennett? Your team is gutless and heartless. Buffalo and the Oilers might be a comparison, but positioning yourself as a team that wins through effort and enthusiasm is hilarious, given the total lack of character on that Leaf roster.

Let's see how he describes the Sabres:
Right now, he has the rights to draft Eichel, a productive scoring winger in Tyler Ennis, a good centre prospect in Sam Reinhart, the question mark that is Evander Kane, erratic young defenceman Zach Bogosian, blueline prospects Rasmus Ristolainen and Nikita (Alarm Clock) Zadorov, and Latvian forward Zemgus Girgensons.
"Good Centre", "Question Mark", "erratic"... well geeze, they pretty much suck. No mention of Matt Moulson, Marcus Foglino,Mikael Grigorenko or Jake McCabe or Hudson Fasching?

The leaves, on the other hand, possess
a reliable but flawed sniper in Phil Kessel, a first line winger in James van Riemsdyk, veteran defencemen Dion Phaneuf and Roman Polak, experienced goalies Jonathan Bernier and James Reimer, and youngsters like Morgan Rielly, Nazem Kadri, Jake Gardiner and William Nylander.
See now Damien, aren't the leaves seriously considering trading Kessel and Phaneuf? Are Bernier and Reimer experienced in a good way, or are they now conditioned to losing and not being good enough? Does Phaneuf not define "erratic"? Has Nylander ever played a game, would he not simply be a "good winger prospect", similar to "good centre" Sam Reinhart. And Roman Polak? Really? GTFO.
Stacked up this way, it doesn’t really look like Buffalo has this massive leg up on the leaves. You might even say the leaves are in a better position. Depends on your perspective.
LOL.

Now I know Hockey's Future is not the be-all-end all, but last season they ranked Buffalo as #1 in terms of prospects. Toronto was #19, even behind Vancouver at #18. Bleacher Report has Toronto at 19, Buffalo at 6. Finally, NHL.com and their composite Rankings seem to believe Toronto has 1 consensus top-60 prospect (Gauthier had 1 vote) in Nylander. Buffalo had Reinhart and Zadorov both ranked consistently ahead of Nylander, and also numerous votes for guys like JT Compter, Fasching, McCabe, and goalie Linus Uilmark.

So yeah, Cox is sucking some Toronto cock in the aftermath of the Babcock signing. Not a huge deal to just say it's a good move for a terrible franchise, but to come out and say they have a better future than the Sabres is fucking laughable. Even Babcock admits Toronto is going to suck. Get on board, Tuna, Buffalo is going to have two of the best centre prospects in the NHL in Eichel and Reinhart (either of whom would be far and way the best Leaf prosepct) on their roster as soon as next fall, while Toronto is likely going to blow their roster to smithereens (much like their front office), and start yet another rebuild.

Awesome, let's speculate on the future of the two worst teams in the NHL. Image

Tuna, burn you Leaf paraphernalia...

Get that "L" tatt removed from your forehead.

Move to Old Trafford.

Get season tickets for Man U.

Well he did say that he and his wife are entering a new phase in their lives as empty nesters and that being able to live in the downtown core of a city was a major draw. I can get that Toronto is a much much better draw than downtown Detroit or downtown Buffalo. No contest. He talked about condo living and having everything at their doorstep. The Mrs. obviously had a big say and I can't blame her for this one. The kids are gone, starting lives of their own and she doesn't want to be in the burbs. As a lifestyle choice Toronto makes perfect sense.

As a lifestyle choice San Jose would've been much better. You could go to dinner downtown and eat in peace, to say nothing of the climate.

No argument here. Only problem was Babcock wanted to stay in the east, he didn't want the travel. So if it came down to three downtown cores, which it did, what's in your wallet.

Certainly not 50 million...

But it is funny all the people saying he wanted to win and coach a good hockey team. Of those three, he easily picked the worst in terms of short-term competitiveness, and Buffalo is in the best position moving forward, imo.

S P I N

Cock tales.

If it were the other way around (Detroit offering the $50M) he'd still be in Motown.

I remember The Cock telling a story a few weeks ago about his wife FREAKING OUT (huge fight ensued)

... when he asked her about possibly leaving Detroit.

Toronto is a dirty stinking city full of dirty stinking Leaf fans.

I'd much rather live in Buffalo or Detroit.

Just look at my old pal Spidey.

Believe it not, decades ago, he was reasonably sane. :(

The Cock + wife $old their $ouls for $25M apiece.

Yeah but you'd have to take 30 million+ less. That's the huge negative.

Who doesn't want to live in a place with roving gangs and boarded up businesses in the downtown core?

BigTuna your a special one aren't you?

Between here and Calgarypuke and any other site you visit you always come on every time you perceive something wonderful/great happened for the Laughs. You spout off that your team is soooooo great, you reference columnists that writes shit just so the site can sell more advertising and pander to Laugh fans.

Yet every year, after every season, your team somehow finds a new way to fail and sometimes it is an utterly awesome fail. Then you disappear for a while only to come back after a UFA signing or a coach signing to spin more crap about the Laughs.

Nothing on this earth can make the current team you are a fan of to be a better team, no new coach or GM or president. You don't have a great group of prospects that will take your team to the promise land and if you did with Diane and the fat dude as your leaders the prospects will just crap the bed.

Nothing short of getting rid of all the cancer in the organization and a real 5 year plan will make "Canada's" team even a remote chance of wining the cup.

Next to death, taxes and rain in Vancouver we can always count on you to add humour to our day, for this I say thanks!

Yeah, Tuna is our best Buttholian. 8-)

Hey Tuna, are you on-board with the full rebuild?

Do you feel you have the patience for that?

Trade Kessel/Phaneuf etc?

Miss the playoffs for years?
