Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26

NHL suspends Bryan Rust 3 games for hit to the head on Canucks’ Brock Boeser There's no objective length to a suspension; a sort of common law (ideally) builds up over time. So while that hit is worthy of 3 games in a world where repeat offenders are getting 5, fact is that Player Safety really s ...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

I think what you said about Buium also applies to DEP, and perhaps Willander. I think the area that Buium and DEP are most similar in terms of negatives is the frequency of their (questionable) step-up/fall back decisions, but Buium seems to be trying to make quick counters when they aren't likely ...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

So the Canucks have had not insignificant playing time from 3 young defensemen: Zeev, TW, DEP. While Mancini hasn't shown much this year, based on what he did last year, I think its fair to think there is an NHL player in there if he stops the slide and picks up on his development last year. Add to ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

Semantics. I want to see the team dump Myers. You want to see the team dump their best center. Which part was semantics? Your entire post. I was saying flush everyone except a couple vets, you said flush everyone except a couple different vets. We are both looking at 4-5 years from now. No. I said ...

Re: The Rebuild - What it should look like

The problem I fear with this, or any rebuild this team will do, is that once they think oh we are close, if everything goes right, to being competitive and making the playoffs then they begin to be buyers. I didn't mind the Zadorov addition but Lindholm was disaster written all over it. I don't ...

Re: The Rebuild - What it should look like

Thus the waffling by Allvin to call it a hybrid rebuild. I think they will try to move a few more players, grab another first if they can, maybe another young roster player/prospect and few few later round picks and call it done. A true rebuild takes time as we all know. 3-5 years before you start ...

Re: The Rebuild - What it should look like

With the rebuild creeping into every thread, Might be nice to try and keep it contained. The goal is to be competitive for a playoff spot in 2029, and make the playoffs in 2030. Make the 2nd-3rd round+ for the next 4-5 years as that's the window. With good drafting, this window can be extended. I ...

How very unCanucklike.
And they might not be done -- but they could also package to move up....

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

I thought the first round rumors were plausible, and I would take a late first rounder over two picks in the mid second round any day of the week. But I Sherwood was slowing down (offensively), the injury was a realization that its time to get something done rather than risk losing him for nothing ...

Re: Ownership and Management

I just want a top 2 pick.... And want someone other than JR and RoboSwede to be making it..... Have you been displeased with their draft selections so far ? No, pretty content, really. But I want the pick to come from someone else because (1) it means they will have been terminated, and (2) the ...

Re: Ownership and Management

While this management group has been an absolute trainwreck from the beginning (see handling of BB), the overall performance really boils down to the major decisions. And while management needs to be judged ex post on results, I think they should also be looked at ex ante. Here were the major ...

Re: The Petey Predicament

How much does public/media pressure play in hockey talent evaluation with this ownership group? A year ago we learned Brock wasn't traded because the offers would publicly embarrass management. Appears the public/media over valued what the auction market value was and public/media perception won ...

That guy was the Canucks second best Dman. Such a shame he had to retire at 30. Smooth as melted butter.
Didn’t his kid Griffin also retire super young?
