Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas

I doesn't take a lot of speculation to think Benning said things in his interview that appealed to the Aqualinis, and then he executed. One takes a bit of speculation is Linden's role in the first place -- Presidents range from the real power positions (consider JR or Shanahan) in hockey ops to ...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft

This isn’t as deep of USA group as some years; makes it all the more impressive they won the Cup given they don’t generally send players from the USNDTP program to play. (And I think maybe one of was on this team? Also explains the # of WHL players — first option for most who get offer is usndtp). Y ...

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26

Are Stevie Y’s best days as a GM behind him? Yeah, he seems to be getting bogged down. The progress is glacial. I think it’s like anything and everything for everyone, the shelf life is limited. Yzerman's best days as GM were done when he got to Detroit. I wonder how much of that has to do with poo ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

But the simple analysis of overperforming v. underperforming talent must have something to do with coaching. How much of that difference would you say is due to systems design, and how much to other factors, such as roles, linemates and/or pairings? I think it would depend on the individual ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

None of these are meant to discredit Vigneault. As a head coach he did very very well to put these pieces in the right places to be successful, as well as adjust his systems to best compliment the strengths of his roster. However, it is undeniable that he was a benefactor of some smart in-house ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

I haven't seen Green, Tockey or Boudreau really excel at this. I give all 3 only a 6/10, but all 3 coulda been 8/10 Vigneault was an 8 or better. What separated AV from these guys is that AV built systems around players, not forcing players into systems. AV's first team with the Canucks played ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

I find it interesting that Pettersson has come out publicly praising the acquisition of Kane, a player in a similar mold to JT. Albeit one who was on the receiving end of the bullying. But he recognizes the need for those type of warriors. He seems to hope to have a chance to play with Kane on his ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

Stories now emerging that the problem at the end with JT was between him and Tocchet and unnamed members of the coaching staff [etc.] This is all quite believable. The EP40 or JT dichotomy always struck me as a very unsophisticated analysis and understanding of in-organization personality, and the ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

Kravtsov was top ten in goals and points in the KHL last year, a material step up from his prior KHL performances.

Of course, in both categories, he was behind former Canuck Josh Leivo and Canuck-for-a-game Sheldon Rempal.

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

DeBrusk interview with John Shannon and Landon Ferraro. I thought his comments on EP40 were curious. Jake was attempting to be diplomatic, but hinted at EP40 being anti-social and stats-obsessed. He concludes the discussion (which starts at 30:10, where I think I start the link) with "I believe in ...

This crew created the Boudreau issue and drama.

Drafting isn’t everything, very true. I was merely pointing out that recognizing when to pull triggers on trades can mean all the difference in the world. :drink: There were opportunities to ;) make trades to clean up a known dressing room problem long before the problem got out of hand and b ...

Re: Assessing the Pacific

The Nucks will float somewhere in the mushy middle this season. Dog fight it out for a wildcard position with 6 other mushy middle teams in the western conference. Meanwhile either, San Jose adds McKenna to Celebrini, Smith, Eklund, Misa, Dickinson or Chicago will add McKenna to Bedard, Nazar ...
