Derek Forbort has left the team for personal reasons. This would explain the Brannstrom recall I guess.

I'll miss most of this one - but then it's just pre-season, right?

I think we’re gonna be 4 games without a win after this one.
People are looking at the line juggling and too-early adjustments, and the new players needing to figure out the game plan. One comment about how DeBrusk being up with Miller and Boeser was unsurprising but came earlier than expected…..
If their $11.6M “franchise” center could actually carry a 2nd line, I think the Canucks don’t have to even worry about switching to protect the lead mode because at least 60% of the time you have forwards on the ice that should be controlling the puck, if not outright threats to strike. Instead he has a secondary PP helper, 5 SOG entering game 4 and is being outscored by Minnesota’s goaltender.

I read the article you posted in the other thread, if Petey wrist is still bothering him then the Canucks need to deal with it. Even if it means IR or LTIR.

I don’t buy it. No complaints about the wrist after the playoffs. He blamed his piss poor showing in a nagging knee injury that coaching staff weren’t even aware of.

Physical durability (and when that fails, effective recovery [Salo], or failing both of those, the mobility and smarts to avoid more contact than your body can handle, plus maybe an enforcer on your line [Gretzky, or even Ronning]) is part of the overall athletic talent package of an NHL player. It was part of the concern when Pettersson was drafted. Someone (sorry I forget who, and haven't been able to find it) said that if Elias Pettersson had weighed 200 lbs. on draft day, he would have gone first overall. Maybe what we're seeing is that those other 4 GMs weren't so foolish in being that risk-averse, and that there may be no 6'2", 162 lb. people (for whom 20 of those pounds are above the adam's apple) who can survive the rigors of the NHL for more than 5 seasons.
A player like that could still have been useful if the organization had taken steps to time those 5 seasons and make the most of them, but it would have taken patience and discipline on the part of the ownership/management group, and as Chef explained so well, we're not going to see that out of this group.
Or maybe I'm wrong and he bounces back and puts up 10 all-star seasons after this. I guess we'll see.

Well I was pushing for Garland to be in the top 6
Heinen on the 4th line, that didn't last long.

Snake bit. Needs to work through this... but his body language is troubling.
