Abbotsford Canucks Discussion - Offseason and Camp

Post by Megaterio Llamas »

Some Abby tidbits heading into training camp:
ABBOTSFORD CANUCKS ANNOUNCE HOCKEY OPERATIONS STAFF UPDATE

https://abbotsford.canucks.com/news/abb ... aff-update

*I-Mac thinks they're close on a goalie coach for Abby.

*new assistant coach Harry Mahesh appears to be a DEI hire which should please the ever so woke Mr Aquilini. He should be popular on Abbotsford's west Side.

Abbotsford's westside used to be named Clearbrook.

Eastside/westside = day/night.

Not anymore eh. I guess the current inhabitants are all newcomers so why would they care about preserving the name? Personally, I don't like it when they just erase historical names like that. I think Aldergrove and Cloverdale still have their town names, though Haney seems it has lost it's identity.

I think it's a shame. Clearbrook and Haney were real places to me growing up.

7 games back in 08 - I'm sure the stain is gone. Clark would have vetted him. ;)

Still, not a lot of coaching experience behind him.

'forming'.... yes - a lot depends on Sivlos this year. If he's the back up, he needs to take a lot of games from Demko. We shouldn't need the goalie to steal too many games this year, but we also don't want to take a step back to the "first shot first goal" era either. What was once our most solid part of the lineup is now a bit of a question mark. OF course, if Demko comes back strong, we'll be just fine. :) But still don't need to push him.

The mysterious Ian Clark saga is directly relative to this line of thinking for me, not just Demko.

At least the new goalie coach Torenius has been working with Silovs in Abby the past couple of years.

So there is that :hmmm:

Yeah the timing on this is suspect as hell.

Who is going to be available in late August?

From what I gathered, Clark came to Allvin in early summer about his medical issue. It may be new news to the public, but management has been working on this for a couple months.

Everything I’ve read suggests Marco seems like a great addition, and was a recommended hire from Clark. He’s been with the organization for two years now. If Marco didn’t get the promotion, then I think there’d be reason for concern.

He was the goalie of the future allowing the leaves to dump Rask onto the Bruins.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.
