Re: Canucks Young Guns
The numbers Pettersen is putting up as an 18 year old rookie in the SHL are insane!

Re: Canucks Young Guns
Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, might be taking it too far, but when I see his mix of great shot, soft hand dekes and tape to tape passing I get reminded of Peter Forsberg. He may not have his physicality (yet), or his mean streak, but he has his combination of skill sets.
And seriously, if he can get anywhere near what Foppa brought to the table, that would be awesome.

Re: Canucks Young Guns
Forsberg was so good in the NHL because you couldn't get the puck off him like Crosby. The hand skills were only part of what made him one of the best.
I'm not sure but I seem to remember he was thin as a teenager as well...Per?

Re: Canucks Young Guns
Absolutely! He was one of the smaller players on the team in peewee and junior, then had a growth spurt in high school to become 6'1". He has explained himself that his versatility as a hockey player came from not being able to play a physical game when he was younger, so he had to rely on skill and smartness, but then when he suddenly became bigger he could start learning to throw his weight around as well, but he still had the skills a smaller player needs to survive. Anyway, people who start out short and then have a sudden growth spurt in high school naturally become bean poles for a few years before their muscle mass can catch up, so yes, he was fairly scrawny at 18-19.Uncle dans leg wrote:Forsberg was so good in the NHL because you couldn't get the puck off him like Crosby. Re: Canucks Young Guns
This is the Canucks. On another team he might be generational. On the Canucks, the heights of fan's excitement is directly proportional to a prospect's demise. While I'm hoping for a 100+ point player, I'm expecting a black swan event. My guess, an accidental overdose when he steps on a needle while Tryamkin is trashing Vancouver and taking him on a tour of Hastings street.RoyalDude wrote:Is it time to start calling Pettersen - Generational?
We are all Snidely Whiplash.
Re: Canucks Young Guns
McDavid isn't look generational right now.RoyalDude wrote:The numbers Pettersen is putting up as an 18 year old rookie in the SHL are insane!

Still Pettersson is producing like a mad man, insane shit, like the players before him he has to strengthen up a bit before going to the NHL pros.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
Re: Canucks Young Guns
Anton Rödin's bad luck continues.
After a good start for Davos in the Swiss league with four points in three games, in game four he crashed into the boards feet first and broke his ancle.
Damn, I feel sorry for him.

Sami Salo ain't got nothing on him.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I think these have been posted before, but just to reassure you that the guy can score:Lancer wrote:Lot of reasons for hope. One question, though. He's been racking up the assists more so than the goals. Is there a possibility that he is being carried by his line-mates who are doing the scoring? How many of his assists are primary assist and how many are secondary?Per wrote:Obviously no serious injury on Pettersson. He played tonight as Växjö beat Färjestad 5-4, and had four assists!
That brings the total to 35 points in 25 games, or a 1.4 points per game average.
Pretty decent, imho, for a 19 year old rookie.
Not suggesting that he is, but just wondering considering his high assist to goal ratio.
Good to see he's back skating though.
Two goals and one assist vs Malmö Redhawks:
Hat trick and two assists vs Frölunda Indians:

Good nights from Lind, Gaudette and Gadjovich. Damn is JimBro slaying with the "later" draft picks. Why he was hired. The previous regime was a tire fire at the draft table, nuff said.
