It is not just the price of imports that go up, Often domestic products are dependent on imported parts. A farmer may be using pesticides or fertilizer that is manufactured abroad and use imported diesel for his harvester. Cars are notorius for having parts cross borders multiple times before being installed in the final product. And if both steel and aluminum is hit with import tariffs that price of the car may get significantly higher, even if it is assembled and sold domestically.

Free trade improves the lot for everyone. Tariffs destroy jobs and make everyone poorer.
This was proven in the 18th century already and still holds true today.

Apparently the tariffs against Mexico have been put on hold for a month and Trump will be speaking to Treudeau today.

Well, since it’s China where Fentanyl products come from, I’m assuming they’d love to do business direct with Canada.

I do agree with Trump in that Fentanyl in this country is out of control. The products used to get sent direct from China to Mexico for fabricating, but apparently now Canada is a top producer of Fentanyl. Hopefully this sets forward wiping the image that Canada is soft on crime and gangsters are welcomed. It’s time to lay the hammer down.

Well they have to flip it back at the US. Tighten border security. Treat the average US citizen like they're a member of Al Quaida. Dismantle every vehicle heading north and let them reassemble it. Sell our reources a bit cheaper,,lumber, hydro, natural gas, minerals, oil etc. to enemies of the US. Dont let them fish in our waters. Shoot anyone illegally crossing the border. Rip up any applications from Americans who want to live here. Let the Pig in a Wig explain it to the inbreds that voted for him.

Canada doesn't need the US at all. Fucking seal the border for all I care

Well, I won't miss American Liquor - about the only time I drink, is when we go out for dinner, I might have a beer (Canadian Beer).

A big issue isn't loose control on the land border or the numbers crossing, it is who is crossing, It is who Canada lets in through the airports on student, temporary work and refugee claims that later cross into the US.
