Danielle Smith did seem to get him to reduce tariffs on Alberta oil down to a more digestible ten percent so something like that may eventually bear fruit but it does seem that tariffs are a major component of Trump's economic strategy so I doubt they will be removed altogether. Things are moving so fast it's hard to keep up. Interesting times. Taking on the US in a it for tat tariff war is the wrong strategy I think.Strangelove wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 8:36 pmThis.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 8:11 pm Trump's extreme loathing of Trudeau probably doesn't help.
Vote in a conservative government and watch Trump agree to a reasonable trade agreement.

The tariffs are here to stay, you’ve nailed it. It’s how Trump operates. Canada needs to pull away from its dependency on America, bottom line. America is no longer an ally. Time to build up the military and take our business elsewhere. Hard times ahead for Canada.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 9:03 pmDanielle Smith did seem to get him to reduce tariffs on Alberta oil down to a more digestible ten percent so something like that may eventually bear fruit but it does seem that tariffs are a major component of Trump's economic strategy so I doubt they will be removed altogether. I'm afraid you're probably right Chef. All we can do now is diversify our trading relationships and knock down interprovincial trade barriers. But these liberal politicians like Trudeau and Eby are shooting themselves in the dick with their tit for tat response, especially trying to involve themselves in domestic American politics by targeting the red states. That's really going to piss them off and make it a lot worse for us. A mouse can't fight an elephant. Doc is right, we need to flush these liberal governments before they do more harm then they've already done.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 9:10 pmThe tariffs are here to stay, you’ve nailed it. Doc, you have shown clearly to be an enemy and a traitor to your own country. We should deport you to America where you belong.Strangelove wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 9:27 pmNo it's not...Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 9:10 pm The tariffs are here to stay, you’ve nailed it.
