I should qualify that I’m not overly excited about this and don’t really consider it an international tournament. It’s just the NHL going for a bigger cash grab at the all star break. It’s all NHL players and none of them will be fully invested in it because they are also staring down the barrel of the home stretch of the regular season as soon as the tournament ends.

What happens when the US faces off against Sweden? Does Miller or Hughes take a run at Petey to save a goal and risk having him come back to Van in another funk?

Does Marner hang a knee on Matthews in a clutch moment with the game on the line?

Will Ekholm put McDavid on his ass at the blueline or down low?

This is best-on-best? Where are Kaprizov, Draisaitl, Ovie, Malkin, Pasta, Shestirken, and Vassy?

Should be a 6 Nations Cup with Russia and Europe being the other two teams…..but politics.

I’ll cheer for the players I like over the flag on the jersey in this one.

It's an appetizer for the 2026 Games.

In this time where Russia isn't welcome, they could have a 5 Nation Cup and involve the Czechs. Couple more total games but easy to do.

Get the top 12 or 16 teams for the Games and make 3 or 4 team divisions.
