I’ve seen him play. I doubt some of you have. He’s a good player. Not worth more than about 6.5... and the term in onerous.

I am not against OEL. But unless Louise, Sutter, Beagle AND Baertschi ALL go the other way, (with out sending Demko or a 1st) it’s not going to help us enough without OEL’s contract crippling our depth.. AND the Lads need to sign at no more than 9mil each.

If JB can pull that off, then he is genius. It’s like he has about 2 days to get rid of every bad contract he has signed and pull off the biggest trade of his career... but hey, why not?

And I agree with Blobbie. If he was 2 million less and didn’t have that NMC, I wouldn’t mind it.

The value of an elite player is always subjective to opinion unless youre the one cutting the cheque. His contract when signed was considered market value and thats about where he will sit once a Canuck. Hes in his prime and will shine for easy 5 of the 7 years then be a diminishing asset to end it off. Fair value for enjoying the guys athletic prime.

Not quite.

And we got rid of all of Louise, Beagle, and Baertschi. Sutter can actually fall off next year by trade, or by expiration of contract. Minus Tanev and saving 4mil on edlers next contract..

Even with all that, not sure how they fit the Lads into a flat cap with OEL’s contract... Tight.

Still in trade talks over Ekman-Larsson that Benning won’t confirm, GM said Canucks UFA could still re-sign before or after free agency opens. Reiterated team needs to plan for Pettersson and Hughes 2nd contracts in 2021.

Talked to GM Benning late today about lack of progress on Markstrom+others.

“We’re going to be prudent and smart. We can go into free agency and try to fill the holes we need to fill. Whether it’s players from within or through free agency, we still have those avenues.”

If you’d like the management team to be smart... they don’t.


10+ 10 + 8.25 + 6 + 6 + 5.75 + 5.25 + all the other poison contracts leaves fuck all for depth. Math isn’t strong point here.
