I can get behind Johnson if he has autonomy.
How many inches of autonomy before you can get your behind for Johnson?
Sorry, man. That's all I got.

The message I recieved today was that there's no hope for the future. At least not in my timeline.
I'll probably follow the draft this year, since it's such a high pick.

Some great posting in this thread y'all.
Dude, this here is one of the GOAT threads at CC... ever, imo. Glad you started it.
Coining and trademarking the term 'TFGs'... inspired. The one thing the loser media won't come in here to steal as theirs. TFMGs.
Went back to the first few pages... a very auspicious start.
Also, there's so much I disagree with Raisin's attempted bullshit spins. His timelines are utter deflection and to talk about culture... it's absolutely hypocritical. Several attempts to draft up some UW-style posts just makes me want to quit this circus even more. I'm having motivational issues trying to type a rebuttal to this mgmt group's years of nonsense.
JR, you thinking about retiring? Don't think. Just fuckin' do it now and spare the fans. Peter, you've cause so many miscarriages in your "home". Just fuck off and leave so we can finally call in the hazmat team.
Agree on point 1. This really is the only place I gather my hockey news as wading through every other venue is way too tedious (ok I listen to H&B while I drive around in the mornings sometimes but THATS it i swear!)
My summary is JR refuses to own any of this shitshow. It was this guy or that guy or this injury. Bullshit.
You sir are a phony

Oh I think he owned it. I just don't think he actually gets it. My take listening to him talk about a new GM is that whoever it is he wants them to completely run the hockey side of things and leave him the hell alone. He said he will always have an open door but really wants someone to come in and do the job and does not want to be involved day to day in hockey decisions. I took that as Allvin may not have been that guy?? We all thought JR and Allvin were joined at the hip but I assumed it was JR needing to be in control. JR made it sound the opposite just by saying what he was looking for in a new GM. So maybe Allvin ran too many things past him, second guessed himself??? Or maybe JR is that delusional???
But I also took it that whoever gets hired he wants AquaBoy to be involved in that decision and that he is building his exit strategy. So I think he is looking to turn over the reigns. He wants out. And why would he? He is responsible for the mess as well as Allvin. Whatever poison was in the locker room they didn't fix it. They didn't create a team or atmosphere anywhere close enough to have a chance to entice Hughes to maybe want to be here longer.

Breaking news….
Vancouver’s NHL team just announced a name change to the Vancouver Lame Ducks. No legal opposition from Anaheim.
Kind sucked I was so busy today had to miss much of everything that went down (then again, kinda good!). Still haven’t watched any pressers yet, but got the lowdown from good ol’ CC and I think I’m pretty well caught up. Thanks, fellow Cornerdwellers and this awesome TFG’s™ thread…you guys rock!!
Gist is JR still around, may be out after draft or shortly beyond. Brain fired Pinky (or other way around?) but Pinky offered other positions to stick around. So, just when you thought he was out, they might pull him back in!!
Foote still around but may or may not live to training camp depending on next puppet. Same for assistants and assistants’ assistantsesses.
Shit show continues indefinitely. Vancouver Lame Ducks it is.

You missed the part that since the TDD the locker room has been the best since JR got here. A real cultural shift since then and the future looks bright. We are all trying to figure out who they traded at the TDD that could account for this remarkable turn around in culture and attitude. I mean really, were Myers and Garland that much of a cancer???

What he said about Allvin, and the fact that he offered him a spot in the organization in scouting and development, "things that Allvin does well".....
That sort of suggests that Allvin just wasn't cut out for the job of GM.

The only thing I can conclude from this is maybe they all knew heads were going to roll from a player personnel standpoint, and were so relieved to have escaped the guillotine of TDD that it eventually helped everyone to relax and be able to bond as group. More of a coincidental timing thing than a cancer like what plagued them last year. Hughes, Sherwood, Myers, Garland, all vets leaving eventually tilted the percentage of the room over to the younger group as majority with their voices taking over as one giant aerosol disinfectant to kill the virus that lingered in there the past several years. My take anyway.

What a shit show that would be for the new GM, the guy just fired as GM involved in scouting for your rebuild.
One of many laughable conflicting pieces of shit the Geriatric spewed.

It menus those left have thin skins and little commitment. Bluger mentioned the commitment to mediocrity in the locker room.

Am I not mistaken or didn't this same shit happen with Benning??
I don't know, maybe I'm wrong but I'm feeling some deja vu here.

Well that was an eventful day.
Not to be a Pollyanna because the team is still owned by AIG, who have significant financial and personal challenges that cannot be setting a great tone, but I liked the JR presser a great deal. I thought he was cogent and reasonable. Shouldered the blame, and put forward a case for why there should be a new GM. Promised to be thorough and to look for the best plan. Rebuild without shortcuts was the statement. We will see, but if you want clarity, that is clarity.
There was also juicy stuff about getting in a good character mix in the dressing room NOW. Well, wtf was going on in there? Was that normal?
