I’ve found that nothing moves the needle at this point BCE. What Doc refers to as Trump Derangement Syndrome is alive and well. People hate the guy so much that they would rather surrender the future of civilization in the west rather than see Trump win.

Education? Can't say I've seen what it's like in Canada. In general (North America) it's criminally underfunded. Is there something other than basic teaching that you're concerned about? Like teachers pushing an agenda?

The "listened to the leftist desire to pass laws that outlaw hate speech" - the right wing is already doing that down here. Banning books, then firing teachers and librarians that don't do as they're told. Asking neighbours to report on trans kids or anyone who might have traveled to get an abortion - and maybe get a $10,000 reward - these are actual laws that are getting passed down here.

Are these examples things that are happening in Canada, and you are projecting them on the American side of the border?

Some things that 'could' happen under trump:
NATO breaks down, or is severely crippled when the US pulls out.
Tariffs will raise prices and hurt many industries with ratalitory tariffs
RFK jr gets puts in charge of all things health
Musk gets put in place to start gutting what he doesn't agree with
trump lowers taxes again, creating even more deficit than the first time around.
etc etc

Yeah it definitely won't move the needle at this site and I'm not looking for it to either. I'm in it mostly for the entertainment.

But in the general US population, these late breaking stories are having an impact especially with women voters. Harris apparently has an unheard of lead in deep red Iowa.

I have my ideas but I'll keep those to myself. All I know is there is pretty well no left, right or choices left in western politics. It's all about replacing the middle class with the easily manipulated in order to maximize profits. The hordes of foreigner migrants are the most easily manipulated of the day

In most elections, I would agree. At the top level, there will still be a 'business as usual' to keep the economy running to some degree.

On many other issues, there is a ton of difference. If you want all of the farm workers and construction workers, etc etc deported - vote for trump. If you want people who have been here for 20 years (but not 'legal') and have families and kids deported - vote for trump.
If you want to see a nationwide abortion ban - vote trump
If you want to see regulations that help keep the air and water repealed, vote trump.

Trust me, it will get ugly down here. As I've said before, trump will be off golfing while his followers get in and work on their pet projects.

It's not about personality at this point. It's a matter of whether this country wants to elect an old man with nothing to lose, and is only in it for the money - or someone who possibly, just maybe might give a shit about the middle class.

last time trump got in, he inherited a great economy - he left in shambles since he couldn't / wouldn't deal with covid. Right now the economy is getting back to solid footing (indicators seem positive, but it's not there yet) and is stronger than other countries. trump would inherit that and then start his tariff wars.

Like I said, as bad as Trump is, I absolutely hate Harris. I don't know what university gave her a law degree, but their status as an accredited institution should be revoked. She is nothing more than a cackling air head. I feel sorry for the USA, having such a dismal choice for president. 300,000,000 + or - citizens and these two are the best you can do??
