Easy 5th.

Well, what's the scuttlebutt on his replacement?

Likely won't be someone highly respected, who the fuck would work as a patsy for Rutherford - so likely going in a "younger up and coming" direction. As some would say, a Yes (Wo)Man.

Possible candidates:

Internal hire Options:
1) Ryan Johnson. He seems well liked by the players in Abby, and might be a strong leader up here.
2) To Tops point - Emilie Castonguay. Certainly fits the Yes Woman category. Her clients speak very highly of her, from her Agent Days. Though she didn't have many. Really no idea what type of GM she would make, don't know anything else about her.
3) Dark Horse - Roberto Aquilini. The ultimate F.U. to Canucks fans.
4) Rutherford Himself. The obvious, and perhaps most likely choice.

External hire Options:
1) No one in their right mind would work for these fucking guys.
2) Patrick Roy - see #1
3) Mike Milbury - see #1
3) Mike Keenan - see #1
4) Mark Messier - see #1

A case can be made every iteration was worse than their predecessor, so not sure I'm terribly excited about NFG's.

There's really only one way for the lineage of shit piles to end.

POHO on short leash his new GM yes man and is fired in a year, New POHO, will want his own guy at GM.

Have we seen this with coaches recently?

A name that popped up briefly a couple of weeks ago that intrigued me was Getzlaf.

Anyone internal with the balls to act while the Geriatric sleeps.

My money is on, when/if he "retires" at the end of next year or is fired during - they don't replace him. No POHO in the Org. structure - GM reports directly to Michael Doyle or FA.

I think The way to transition and finish the needed culture change is simple. Since we are not getting new ownership and a clean sweep

1) Fire Allvin, Hire Johnson. RJ knows the system, knows the team and its an easy transition. (DONE!)
2) Early next season (Novemberish - first losing streak), Fire Foote. This gives Manny (new head coach) time to get his crew in place and a solid 1/2 season to get systems in place. A change year for a coach is also a write off year for the media expectations and they will give him grace. Managing the media duriung this process will be key.
3) end of next year, Rutherford is toast, get new PoHo, and sweep out the rest of the coaches that survived the first purge.

You may be right
They may be crazy
Oh, but it just may be a lunatic
They're looking for
Turn out the lights
Don't try to save this
You may be wrong, for all I know
But you may be right

Your guess does not give anyone the warm fuzzies. My guess is we dust off Leves' tm TFGs in no time...

For now, still too many baldies in the house for my liking.

How does any of that internal movement change the culture? Promoting the backing vocalist to be the next Boy George does nothing to the Club's Culture. It only changes the chameleon's colour. The Karma remains.

well, in all honestly, I don't think the culture can be changed under the current ownership. With constant meddling comes constant toxicity. I think the best we can do is try and guide it. The main point is a different buffer between ownership and the team (Rutherford). After that, its all media spin (something this team doesn't do). Personnel changes change the chameleons color, but the thing to do is get the media on side. When ownership battles media, the toxic environment will persist.

Until ownership changes, the Karma will remain with this club.

The selection will send a message:

If it’s one of the Sammy-makers, then we know it will by the Old Fart running the show; Situation - no change.

If it’s an outside hire, they may be groomed to take the Old Fart’s job as GM/POHO or straight GM reporting to Doyle or FA. Only so much potential change can be expected.

If it’s Johnson, I can see a slightly longer grooming process. Old Fart’s career dies of natural causes and Johnson steps in as heir-apparent. The amount of change we can expect will be determined by how well Johnson can influence higher to adopt his blueprint - or tweaks to the extant plan. Choosing him would also send a message that they didn’t want to let him go.

Allvin was the first domino, but I daresay he won’t be the last before next season.

In typical Geriatric fashion, we've known through the media for days, early reports came weeks ago, that Alvin would be gone at season's end.

bruce, bo, jt, quinn ... the list goes on

I was thinking that last night Tops. But this time it looks like it was Allvin who spilled the beans. First to media here saying he didn't think he would survive, and I am going to assume it was him speaking to the Swedish newspaper whilst Rutherford was having his nightly sleep.

Since they obviously knew weeks back they should have just ended it then. There was no need to make him work out the rest of the season.

Ownership has to make sure they get their full moneys worth in. This ownership group really comes across like a nickel and dime organization.
