That’s one challenge to this situation: finding a reasonable return for someone like Pettersson tends towards players that are faces of their franchise. You don’t do that unless you like what Petey could do as a replacement as the face of the franchise. Unless Chicago management has thrown up their hands with a Bedard-centers core, they will hang up at the mention of him.

Apparently, according to supreme spitballer Friedman, Colorado could be interesting in Miller. Top centre prospect Callum Ritchie has to be on the table plus a 1st and a roster player for Chef’s approval. Ritchie was recently ranked on a top 100 list as the 19th best prospect in the league. Projected as a top 2 centre. He’s close to graduation.

Ritchie - 6’-3” 190 lbs
This season - 11 goals 37 assists in 26 games plus 21

Scouting Report

Calum Ritchie has great puck skills and sometimes it looks like he’s glued the puck to his stick while carving through defenders or when he’s on a breakaway. His tools make him very well suited as a center at the next level with good size, a coveted right-handed shot, good defensive habits (kills penalties quite well), and solid faceoff results. He has the tools to be a top-6 forward, but his offensive game will need to continue to grow if he wants to reach that level of play in the NHL. Ritchie missed pieces of the past two seasons with injuries, but his play down the stretch in the OHL last season and in the early months of the 2024-25 season has been phenomenal.

Sounds like a good “long term” fit as your 2nd/3rd line centre behind Petey
