No.

He HAS elite talent. That does not mean he IS an elite talent.

MacKinnon IS an elite talent.

Hughes IS an elite talent.

Crosby IS an elite talent.

The separation is in the consistent execution and the ultra-consistent dedication to nurturing what they have to make them what they are.

Professor Mëds out giving lectures

Yeah, he had a good January, both in terms of points and actual play. Come February and right after the ASG, we could quickly notice a slip in effectiveness, even though the PPG didn't slip too badly for the month.

I've literally said repeatedly that his game started going down the shitter right after coming back from the ASG. But after signing the contract in early March, it was so bad, it was a cause for concern. 3.5 months overall of vacation.

Was it that teams started playing harder for their own run? Possibly. Was it a nagging injury that required no rest? Who knows? Whatever the reason, he couldn't handle it and never recovered. I maintain to this day we should have moved past the second round if he played at least to 7.35 expectations, never mind 11.6

So yes, you are correct about the timeline. I forgot it myself when I was typing that.

Not really a good excuse.

But it's ok. We'll have patience with you because we know you will grow into the expectations we have of you.

Cool. Can't wait to sign my max contract and then not live up to the new expectations.

Like not using "Superstar" to describe a player being lambasted.

Or neglecting to use punctuation to emphasize your point?

Some interesting takes in last year's post season forward looking thread, but Scooter earning his keep and Demko's health appear to have been the biggest issues folks here recognized.
