Tavares, Marner, Matthews, Nylander - over $40 million in salaries to 4 players. Half the cap. $40 million left for 19 player's to fill out the rest of the roster.

Also worth noting Clifford has a history of concussions, he doesn't hit/fight near as much as he used to.
I love to see a good panic attack by a GM. A 2nd, a 3rd and an RFA 4th liner for a back up goalie and an older, UFA 4th liner. That kinda breaks down into a 2nd and a 3rd for a backup goalie (hey, if he doesn't win 6 games, the Leaves likely won't make the playoffs - and that's a different celebration)

In the Toronto new network this is a great deal for Toronto and fixes their goaltending problem, not that it is hard to do that as Hutchinson is pretty bad.

Their defense is pretty crappy too, so I expect a drop off from Campbell as he sees some quality AHL style defense.

If Campbell is worth a 2nd and a 3rd, wtf is Demko worth??

Yup! Stick with Demko.
If Marky doesn't want to sign for the price the Canucks offer, there are a ton of UFA quality goalies that can back-up Demko next year. One of them will sign a cheap deal late in the summer. The market will be flooded with Lehner, Crawford, Holtby, Greiss, Halak, Khudobin, Smith, Elliot, etc...
Someone will sign for $4 million and be a great back-up to split time pretty evenly with Demko.

No doubt.

And I'm not convinced Campbell is much better than Hutch, they're both mentally weak.

A bad game or two led to Leafers getting all over Hutch which led to him falling apart.

I could definitely see the same thing happening with Soupy.

And really, it doesn't even take a bad game or two.

Leafers tend to blame the goalie when it's team defense that is the problem (as you alluded to).

When their hero Andy slumped for a few weeks (starting Xmas) Leafers turned on him like inbred Dobermans.

If you don't believe me just ask Mrs Reimer.

My fear is that Clifford actually brings 1 guy with some sandpaper and character to the team..

Not matter how it shakes out, they added another backup goalie. Not a big deal.

Clifford could teach some of those monkeys things (if they are willing to learn). He is a character guy in the room, and has a bit of grit.

Yes, it worries me that Dubas seems to have finally figured out that Team Pussy doesn't work.

Still not a tough enough team in the land of the Leaf, but I have no doubt Cliffy will give them a brief spark at least.

I hear some anti-Leafers are hoping for an immediate Clifford injury.

Thoughts Danny? :mex:

[mod edit: Learn how to quote, eh fish head]

Campbell has a career .916 save %. He posted .928% last season in 31 games. Yes, he is much better.
