Zeev has re-signed.

8 x 9.38m per. Could be a really good contract in a few years.

A bit pricey coming off an ELC, but a fact of life when trying to sign American stars when you’re north of the border. He’ll likely be worth it or the cap hit won’t mean so much by the time the contract is done.

Not the worst contract I’ve seen. We’ll see if this is enough money to keep him happy in “Puerto Rico del Norte”.

A chunk of change for sure! And good term!

It's a contract I can see him growing in to.

If not, then the media will chase him out.

Higher than I expected. Doesn’t matter for the first few years since the Canucks have lots of cap space and no one worth spending it on.
After that, the cap will be a lot higher and the contract could be a bargain if his defense improves and he is a worthy top pairing PP Dman.
First big gamble by RJ.

If Zeev becomes a 60 point top-4 then this contract will be exceptional for the last 5 years of its run.

For sure a risk on both parts. If he doesn't become that top 1-2 running the PP and routinely getting 60+ points then it will look bad 4 years from now. If he turns out be the stud we were sold on then its a great deal. Good for both sides getting this done because there were risks in not doing so. The kid just made a statement about being committed to bring here during the rebuild and being part of the solution.

Which, on the "Heels of Hughes", I agree is a real positive HW.

Credit to new Management for making a statement and getting this done.

Ya full credit. Keep in mind that if he doesn't sign by Sept 16 he can then only sign a 7 year deal. So perhaps the Canucks paid a little more to get 8 years and he took a little less to get 8 years.

The fact that he wanted the 8 year deal to make that commitment shows his character. Fuck man.....the kid wants to be here.

And, as the optimist, the buyout before 25 is cheaper, if needed. But. I think we nailed it.

If he becomes a core 4 player. Its a steal.

Seems to be the going rate for these guys. I do kinda like him, so don't mind making a commitment to him. I think he can become like a Josh Morrissey. :)

This offseason has been different. I don’t feel we are led by retrds anymore… it feels like we have a direction with purpose…
