He has to pay most of that back to Vegas...

He should put that 2mill in a offshore bank account, bolt to russia and never come back. That's pocket change for Vegas.

Well he can't have his contract voided (and sign a KHL contract) until he pays it back.

FriedMan says he gets to keep $86K of that $2M...

Doesn't bode all that well for Vegas how they treated the Russian after a so-so training camp and 3 NHL games, Vegas had enough.
McPhee said several NHL teams were trying to sign Shipachyov.

The GM added that the opportunity to immediately play meaningful minutes and to live in Las Vegas were the main factors in Shipachyov’s decision to sign with the Golden Knights.

The Vegas Golden Knights VGK want assurances Shipachyov won't try to recoup that $2M signing bonus later on, along with getting it back before there is a mutual contract termination., Ship says no fucking problem, I just want out of this shitty organization, I mean np-I just want to play in the KHL.

HOWEVER, enter the NHLPA: now hold the fuck on, this will set a bad precedent for future NHL players & their signing bonuses. They can't just allow this silliness to roll on like nothing, as this will have an effect on the entire league and it's players cash money flow. So this will have to be settled somewhat fair and square, meaning Ship will & should retain some of his signing bonus.

VGK will just have to cut it's losses and pay up, they paid big bucks to get him on their team with some rock solid opportunity to play in the NHL, not the minors.

How bad could this guy have played that they want to cut ties completely this early in the season?

Senators acquire Duchene in blockbuster with Avalanche, Predators

Sportsnet Staff
November 5, 2017, 6:58 PM
The Colorado Avalanche have traded forward Matt Duchene to the Ottawa Senators in a three-way deal also involving the Nashville Predators.

As part of the trade, the Predators will get centre Kyle Turris from the Senators.

The Avalanche will receive prospects Samuel Girard, Vladislav Kamenev and a second-round pick from the Predators, and forward Shane Bowers, goaltender Andrew Hammond and a first- and third-round pick from the Senators.

Duchene’s name has been in trade talks since at least the NHL Draft. On Friday, reports of a trade involving these three teams indicated that negotiations had fallen through. But on Saturday, during Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman indicated that the Avalanche and Senators were still motivated to get a deal done.

Duchene was removed from Sunday’s game against the New York Islanders. He has four goals and 10 points this season.

Turris is an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. On Saturday, Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos reported that the Senators were “highly unlikely” to re-sign him.

Predators sign Kyle Turris to six-year contract after trade with Senators

Sportsnet Staff
November 5, 2017, 7:16 PM
The Nashville Predators have signed newly acquired centre Kyle Turris to a six-year, $36 million contract.

The Predators acquired Turris from the Ottawa Senators in a massive three-way trade that saw Matt Duchene go to Ottawa.

Turris, 28, was set to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. On Saturday, Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos reported that the Senators were “highly unlikely” to re-sign him.

He has three goals and nine points so far this season for the Senators.

Good trade for the Avs. A 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Three prospects and a goalie. Way too much for Duschene.

The picks came from the Senators and the prospects came from Nashville who had a good pool of prospects. That said I think Sakic did ok

Sorry HW I was just hearing bits and pieces of this trade when I posted this. Hell of a haul for Burnaby Joe

So in context
Sens / Preds - Turris to the Preds for Samuel Girard, Vladislav Kamenev and a second-round pick

Sens / Avs - Duchene to the Sens for Samuel Girard, Vladislav Kamenev and Preds second-round pick along with Shane Bowers, Andrew Hammond and Otawa's first- and third-round pick
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

That is a hell of a haul for Duchene for Sakic .Three picks and three good prospects for the guy. I guess both teams shared in paying the premium but Sakic made out like a bandit. Nashville now has a real nice 1-2 punch in the middle to go with that back end and Ottawa gets a very dynamic player in Duchene but if he walks in 2019 this deal will bite them in the ass big time.

Would make zero sense for Vancouver even if they had the assets, which they didn’t.
