I bet Lou didn't like getting bent over the barrel by Matthews' team in getting the first max rookie contract Lou's ever signed. Wasn't the rumour that Shanny had to intervene to get it done?

Now how is Lou gonna handle handing out either the biggest or second biggest contract in NHL history to a 21-year-old?

And I would not be surprised if Matthews holds out for McDavid money.

Nylander said today he won't negotiate during the season. Me thinks he wants a monster year, then negotiate. Lou is known for low balling players who are still RFA. That's how we ended up with Morrison, friction between the two and Lou traded his ass.
