Ignoring that the heavy hit of the OEL buyout behind next season
That is going to hurt. Which why I am thinking Boeser may be on the way out.
Or we trade Garlic?

OEL’s hit goes up another $2.42, but at least Poolman’s $2.5 will be off the books. Plus, whatever the cap goes up next year, another $3-4m?
It’s not ideal, but certainly not a total detriment.

Prime mistake:
Prime will telecast 4 Canucks games. The mistake ? We get mark messier as analyst.
“So, four times this season, Canucks fans will have their viewing experience interrupted by the most hated player in franchise history. More than that, he'll be providing analysis of those four Canucks games during intermissions. Even more than that, Canucks fans will get a "vignette" of a "captivating" story from his "legendary career."
I'm not sure that's going to sell Prime Video subscriptions in Vancouver, Amazon.
Here are the four games that will be exclusively available on Prime Video featuring Mark Messier:”
December 23: San Jose Sharks @ Vancouver Canucks
January 6: Vancouver Canucks @ Montreal Canadiens
January 27: Vancouver Canucks @ St. Louis Blues
March 24: Vancouver Canucks @ New Jersey Devils

I'm a Prime subscriber (like so many others) and I'm sending in a complaint telling them I won't watch those games because of Messier.
I imagine Cornuck is busy creating multiple dummy email addresses and prime accounts in order to spam the shit out of their customer feedback.

I’m a prime member too but my SN subscription is through Shaw. So unless you pay for a SN subscription through prime you don’t get prime SN. So I don’t think I’ll be able to watch them which is kinda fucked.

Theyll be available for you Wids. It's not the SN subscription on prime that's showing them, just the prime account. If you go on there they have some yawnball games and shit for free
(Blobby loves his yawnball)

After the 2025-26 season (after 1st year of Boesers new contract) it’s a clearing house of contracts in the season after this
Demko - UFA - $5 mil - will be 30 - health dictates return
Garland - UFA - 4.95 mil - will be 30 - gone
Soucy - UFA - $3.25 mil - will be 32 - gone
Myers - UFA - $3 mil - will be 36 - gone
Heinen - UFA - $2.25 mil - will be 31 - gone
Desharnais - UFA - $2 mill - will be 30 - gone
Blueger - UFA - $1.8 mil - will be 32 - gone
Suter is a UFA after this season. His contract is - $1.6 million. Sprong is on a one year deal.
Hopefully Raty is a cheap replacement to replace Suter. Lekkerimaki should be replacing Garland over time. Willander makes the loss of Myers/Soucy easy to swallow right when he’s done with college
What is that $22 million off the books potentially. Gotta love those who get hysterical over OEL’s buyout costs. Every team has these.
This is why ELC’s are important. It’s a black hole once Lekkerimaki and Willander graduate.

While most teams have either buy out or retained salary costs, the Canucks are at the top end of "dead cap" (not including injuries, cuz those can be back filled). We are doing very well on the ice, competing with teams that have an additional $3mil on the ice , which jumps to $5.4mil next year. So, yeah, We do have a right to be pissed that we are amongs the worst in dead cap in the league. That $3mil is the difference between Forbert, and a $4.5 mil 2nd pairing D man, or anyone in our bottom 6, and a $4mil winger. Or, signing Lankinen to a 3x$2 instead of squeezing him for a cheap 1 year deal.
This is why ELC’s are important. It’s a black hole once Lekkerimaki and Willander graduate.
Hopefully we trade some of those contracts mentioned earlier for picks. Yes. ELC's, and 2nd contracts (ahem, Hoglander) are highly important. But, they don't replace bad contracts.

It is a little odd that so many Canucks fans hate him so much. he was 40 when he got here...he was already over the hill. What did anyone really expect?

He helped gut a roster that was rotten to the core. Only guy I was sad to see go off that crew was Martin Gelinas.
Jim Benning
Tom Watt
Jack Gordon
Loui Eriksson
George Mcphee
Hell there are other I'm sure I hate more. Darby Hendrickson and Matt Cooke come to mind.
