I am not moving goal posts. I am merely shedding light on the fact that Benning’s bread and butter was supposedly his eye for scouting talent, which should have translated to his ability to draft well, not just in the first two rounds, but in subsequent rounds as well.

It goes without saying that Benning made a wise move in dealing a 1st and 3rd for Miller. As you have stated, I’ve given credit for the Boeser, Demko, Petey and Hughes picks. This has been credited umpteen times and needs no further recognition for this discussion.

I look at the prospect camp roster and see one player drafted by Benning in his final 3 drafts, who happens to be coming off a terrible season in Abby.

Silovs could be a real coup for Benning, and I certainly hope he turns into a player. But what else does he have to show for his selections? McDonough? Really? He was let go for nothing. Gaudette? Traded for Highmore who walked 14 months later, for nothing.

I’m not looking to get into a pissing match between what Allvin has drafted and dealt away vs Benning.

Benning’s lack of productive trades, cap management and failed FA signings have all been discussed to death. I just wanted to share my disappointment in the one area Benning had experience and credibility in, drafting. He came up short, way too short.

The odds of a late 1st through 3rd round pick has been repeated demonstrated. How many time have I done the math on it... Yes, there are rare exceptions, but the odds of a late 1st through 3rd round pick are ever diminishing and become exponential.

Whose MO? Rutherfords, Canucks or Aquilinis?
It made sense last season with their newfound success (win now), but once the suckage stops constant year to year new talent/turnover is necessary to maintain non-suckage.

So the current squad which isn't at all ancient, along with two young blue chippers (who are the among the most valuable young players in the game)isn't sustainable for a 5-7 year period?

May as well fold the team and move it.

Teams typically deal picks/prospects when they are cresting into their competitive/contender window. It happens in the three sports I follow, the NBA is a different animal.

You defended Elmer like his infant inbred son when he pissed picks and prospects away and then signed them to salaries for below average- barely average NHL placeholders. Let alone the losers he pulled off the UFA pile. Tanev, Sedins, Hamhuis, Bieksa and Edler had the mentorship covered.

They have the platform for a decent run here, but you aren't happy if the team has a cunt hair of success. Bitter little human.

Ummmm.... they had a great team and have have some success with a couple cups in Pitt. They saw a decent nucleus here and have tried to build around it.

But please fill us in on their history.
