Gotta hand it to Pinky and the Brain.
They stood their ground, bided their time, and eventually Lankinen accepted their lowball offer.

According to Puckipedia, Vanc is roughly $700K over the cap with this signing. If HalfSac starts on LITR, all is good, then withever who of the sea of Garlands is lost to waivers and Poolman moves to LITR when Halfsac comes back......
I think that works.....

If he plays well, he'll fetch a 2nd at the tdd.

Yah, nice move by mgmt. Always nice to have depth between the pipes. In the grand scheme of things, what's $125k for these guys? Lankinen doesn't have much leverage right now and pretty much has to take whatever is available. If he plays well and proves he can handle a stretch of games while Demmer is out, he'll get a nice contract well over $1M next season.
This is also good in the sense that if mgmt wants to give King Arthurs more time in Abby, it's another option now.

Apparently CoHog tired the fitness testing at the start of camp, Miller was supposedly right up there. Any word where Scooter Boy was?

Rumour was Lankinen originally wanted $2.5M x 3 from some team.
Eventually he was like 'Okay $1M minimum' (rumours).
So Pinky and the Brain holding firm to $875K x 1 was something.
And being patient right into training camp... well.
Remind me never to play poker with these guys.

Exactly.
When/if both Demko + Lankinen are healthy, no doubt Silovs will be sent to Abby.
I don't know about you, but I'm hearing good things about The Lanky One.

Good way to impress a guy like Tocc = more icetime?

25 goals and a top 6 role during the reg. season. Questions remain about the post season.
My guess is a trade deadline deal will include Hogs. Playoffs or bust.

24 goals is still an accomplishment in my books. If he rounds into a better than average 3rd liner who pumps in 20+ a year then he's worth hanging onto unless he wants a big bag

For the money he is paid you damn right it's good. But there are mouth breathers that still think Beagle, Rouusel, Sutter and Eriksson were good bang for the buck. Anyone incessantly whining about Hoglander has the IQ of a shoehorn.

It's a quality signing.
Nice to have competent management again.

I think that works.....
I don’t see why they can’t paper Silovs to minors and be under the cap at the start of the season w/o ltir and w/o waiving a player that wasn’t already going to be waived before the signing. What am I missing?

Well this morning Puckipedia has Vancouver $90k under the cap.

So I gather management wasn't all that impressed with Silovs or Pantera's training camp which led to the signing of KL.
I've said it before, Silovs was merely OK in the playoffs. The filthy coil figured out his weakness (finding pucks in traffic/long shots from distance through screens) and stole that series back from defeat.
I'm more than comfortable with this new guy, he's been pretty solid in the handful of games I've seen him in
