Managed to make it to Pen for some of the practices today.
A few observations:
Incredible pace. Yogi was on the white board explaining the drills, 5on5’s and 2on2’s that were all continuous with minimal breaks. Tocc rolled the lines constantly shouting “Go! Go! Go!” Pace and speed was the main objective and intensity was maintained throughout.
The leaders led the way by example, but the usual suspects, Miller and Myers were doing plenty of instructing. All business all the time.
Individually, I didn’t get a great look at a lot of guys, bit tried to watch the newbies.
DeBrusk and Heinen can skate and push the pace. It looks like Heinen will be given every opportunity to play in the top six because he’s a fairly heady player that can really move. Sherwood too can fly out there and seems to have a sneaky good shot. Desharnais has decent mobility, paired with Soucy if I recall.
Raty plays with confidence and poise. Bigger than I thought and I didnt really see his mobility as an issue. Sasson too didn’t look at all out of place.
Hoglander looked really good out there. Quicker, he was moving his feet well and showing off his crazy hands.
Allrickson his BIG. A bit lumbering, but his skills are evident. Once he’s grown into his frame he could be a player, good shot. Don’t know anything about Mueller, but he displayed a wicked shot throughout practice.
Petey looked great. He undressed D-Petey early on to set up Jake for a tap-in. Sprong has decent mobility as well.
Felton can really move. Not big, but he’s confident with the puck on his stick and can really shoot it.
Test results weren’t released yet, but sounds like Miller, Hoglander and Sprong were among the top. I think Hogs was one of the standouts of the day.

Fitness results weren't released but tocc did say Hoglander led the way above everyone else. Speaks volumes for his off season I'd say.
I liked Felton in the young stars. He has decent speed and will push the offence from the backend. I liked his defensive positioning as well. He is older, 24, more mature than the kids. I think they may have snagged a good one.
I also liked Allrickson. He earned praise from Tocc for showing up at the young stars and doing the things they asked him to work on last season. He may have a future in him if he can put it all together. Although I don't know if he fights. I like his speed and forecheck. A strong season in Abbey will go a long way for him.

He's going back to the OHL Wids.

Allrickson will likely play in the O and push for a spot on the World Junior team with Willander.
Felton looks like a good signing, and a right shot too.
The thing that may hold Bains back is his first few steps. Not the fleetest.

Felcher will be 25 in February. He will do well to get an AHL paycheck for a couple years.
BOS maybe take Doc hunting with you.
How has Jett Woo looked? Pretty much make or break at this point for him.
Raty apparently played the wing in Abby which is a bit concerning due to the lack of organizational center depth.
I think Rutherford will have his eye on the waiver wire.

Oh you just couldn’t resist could you Wids.
You know the season is just around the corner after a long hockeyless summer when even HW is dipping a toe into the antagonizers pool.
