Is this a "speculation is fairly certain" comment?

Elite is a BIG word.

Like Superstar.

Elite echoes Hall of Fame.

As much as he has surely been far better than this H of F is not in the horizon.

Many guys played great in the bubble. Bubbled Demko comes to mind. Bubble Bo destroyed Binnington.

Nothing then showed me he stood out above and beyond anyone else.

We would love to see homegrown talent have HOF careers here. Unfortunately management has painted themselves into a corner and there are possible trades we are now discussing. What will happen? Anything, if you look at Rutherford’s résumé.

Some say the tendonitis in his knee prevented Petey from training properly in the off-season.

Cousin Strawberry wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 2:07 pm There's some 'tongue in cheek' to my comments but he has had an impressive start to his career with prolonged periods of absolute elite level play INCLUDING an early playoff run where he was playing some seriously dynamic hockey.

All this while ensuring maybe 1/3 of his career playing well below his gold standard.

He is an elite talent. This isn't even debatable unless you are only using the past 10 months to judge the entire body of his work
Cousin Strawberry wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 2:09 pm And before y'all attack his bubble play....every other player also was experiencing the same apparent benefit of playing in empty rinks.

He was a key to whooping the living shit outta the defending champs and a big tough wild squad that targeted him and Hughes for destruction. Not to mention pushing the power house Gnights to the brink
Agreed.

(depending on how one defines "elite" of course)

This whole tendonitis story stinks of his Dr. vs Team Dr.

Post season the team was not saying a word on an injury before not after Scooter's claim.

Me thinks he whined too much.

Do you see any hint of an asshole in Scooters character?
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Well, as with many subjects, one believes what one chooses to believe.

Every once in awhile I see a glimmer of an asshole.

Too skinny though, feed him nothing but steak and roids this summer

... when he's healthy enough to train properly.

His boyhood idol was Foppa after all, not Nazzy.

Carl Yagro wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 11:29 am Someone's game faltered right after signing his contract. His weak mental fortitude isn't the result of another player, someone who he has played with for years. It's because his pysche can't handle the cheques his ego is trying to cash. He thought he was with the league's upper echelon after one season but can't handle the pressures of what the new status demands... impactful play at an even higher level.

You wanted to be The Man, wanted to be paid like The Man. Now the GM is finally saying, then start acting like The Man.
His game faltered weeks BEFORE he signed that contract.

If it wasn't for 2 games against Detroit where he roasted them for 3 points in each outing, his numbers were shite.

He signed the contract on March 3rd. That night he laid a Duck egg in Anaheim. That was his 14th game post All-Star weekend and subtract those Detroit games and he had 6 points in 12. 0.5ppg pace.

The rush to sign him was a head scratching affair. There were offers on the table and he was heading to RFA status. The team held all the cards. Any offersheet would have been either low-ball and easy to match or insanely high (having to make up for the additional year they couldn't give him). Considering what he was holding out for the offer sheet compensation would have been one of two things: 2 First Rounders + 2 Second Rounders + 1 Third Rounder.....OR most likely 4 First Rounders. With that kind of draft capital the Canucks could have traded a pair of 1st rounders plus parts for a replacement. Then used some of the other picks to either stock the cupboard or acquire ready-baked talent in other areas.

One of the dumbest signing scenarios I've ever seen.

No he's not. Those guys could follow up that dangle on their feet. He can't.

Lost his burst and strength?

LOST?

Did your alien friends take you to another reality where he actually had that?

Pettersson has NEVER had those things. His burst of speed was in the neutral zone chasing a puck, and it took him 4 strides and his head down to find it. The biggest knock that people like myself and Topper (and Donny to an extent) have had on him has been his spindle legged stork-like skating and his slight frame.
