Chef, some people are interpreting what is going on as an abrupt end of liberal globalism and the beginning of a new age of empire with core spheres of influience. Trump seems to be reinforcing the Monroe Doctrine.

I don't think imperialism ever went away.....the collapse of the USSR just created a lull. China started to become an actual thing about 5 years later.
Despite the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia was still something that most European people were wary of because of those spheres of influence you mentioned.

Hell no. Anything to do with any part the USA is a disaster waiting to happen. We don't share many values and there are an awful lot of weirdos in California Oregon and Washington State that I don't want wandering around where I hang out.
I'm all for a western Canadian sovereign state that cuts off the eastern creeps and bums
