would you give up the 2025 first?
No, and I don't believe that will be necessary.
What do you think it will cost? It cost us a 2nd last year to offload Dickinson at half the cap hit. Monahan cost a 1st for Calgary to move a higher cap hit, but just 1 year left. There are other examples. It's not going to cost a 5th as someone else said.
Your examples are from Flat Cap World.

Twas almost impossible to move cap in that world.

In today's world the cap is increasing at a rate of 5% per year ($4.3M-ish)

... and most are predicting it to rise at a much greater rate when the present MOU expires in 2 years.

We managed to dump Beauvillier this year (and actually got a 5th back!).

Yes, it will cost us something to move Mikheyev, but not the 2025 1st that you suggested IMO.

Mikheyev is only overpaid by $1.5M tops.

There's good reason to believe his speed will return to full throttle as the ACL surgery disappears in the rear view window.

A lot of teams value top speed and fine penalty killing.

Sooooo....

Take back another player (lower salary) that is overpaid by $1-5M-ish?

Retain some?

Give up a medium prospect that another team is fixated on?

Some combination of those?

We certainly will not be giving up a first to move him out...

I am curious to see how management handles Hronek this summer. What are their thoughts on him after his roller coaster season. If they still see him as an important part of the team, what are they willing to pay him?

If they have a hard line number and Hronek’s demands are higher, are they willing to sit tight and allow him to sign an offer sheet?

I think he stays in the end.

What about Hronek to the Crackpipes for Adam Larsson and Brandon Tanev? Allows the team to cut Joshua loose. Francis obviously has a relationship with JR. Yes Tanev isn’t as big as Dakota, but he is an elite defensive player and can pk. Replace Dakota’s size throughout the lineup. You can likely extend both guys. They are solid vets that aren’t all beat to shit. Just a thought or go all futures? But I think the bald pricks want to win now and I don’t blame them.

I think we need more Joshua types, so not sure getting Tanev means you have to lose Joshua, unless its cap related. Depends what Joshua takes to sign I guess.

That said, while baldies want to win now, you can't be looking simply at just winning next year,. and a 31 year old Larsson for me is doing just that. Especially after witnessing how are younger players clearly need more experience before they'll have a chance at Stanley.
I don't want to give up Hronek and get 5 years older.

Yes, interesting.

Numbers are very close to Corner consensus.

(except Lafferty of course)

wtf would you bring lafferty back and at 2 mill

that guy'd be lucky if he gets a contract

out of that list i think

bye lafferty

bye friedman

bye Joshua if > 3

bye Lindholm if > 6.5 (I don't think we should be paying 6.5 to play 3rd line center)

bye Mikheyev please just say goodbye
