Who’s in charge of manning the window on the lookout for cops and who will be in charge of chicken scratching for droppings?

He was also called out quite a but by Tocchet for his lack of focus and intensity. He was inconsistent. Yes having cancer after a career year really sucked for him. And yes he may have 2 good years as a 25-30 point 3rd liner. But he is overpaid.
Let's face it, the guy was a slacker, a goof-off...
Tocchet talked Dakota into working his ass off for ONE season and he cashed in.
Then... it almost feels like... he used the cancer as an excuse for goofing off again.
Dakota got cancer - that wasn't out fault. We didn't tell him to go get cancer. It's too bad that he did. We feel sorry for him, but then he went goofy on us (again).
I think twas Blob who pointed out his unsustainable shooting percentage during that career year.
Alvin capitalized on Tree's obsession with "changing the DNA" at the centre of the universe.
He's wasting all that Marner money on goon-wannabes like Roy and Joshua... and top-6-wannabe Maccelli?
(Why does Dude keep saying they've got gobs of money... puckpedia says less than $3M with Robertson's arbitration pending)
Toronto is headed for doom... DOOM... I tells ya, doom bwahahahaha...

Their grit is different. Karlsson is more the stinky mitt face rub, cheap stick between the nut sack from behind kind of infuriating player. Joshua is more the, “Why I oughta” and on the rare occasion he backs it up.
Something tells me if Karlsson pulled that "cheap stick between the nut sack from behind" thing on Joshua
... it might trigger one of those "rare occasions".
Do it Karl!! He's a dirty Maple Leaf now!!

DeBrusk interview with John Shannon and Landon Ferraro. I thought his comments on EP40 were curious. Jake was attempting to be diplomatic, but hinted at EP40 being anti-social and stats-obsessed. He concludes the discussion (which starts at 30:10, where I think I start the link) with "I believe in him more than most" that resonated to me as something less than genuine, but you can judge. Jake also said he signed in Vancouver in part to play with Petey, took some personal responsibility for EP40s play (he wasn't playing his best), and joked that he's got a 7 year contract and something to the effect of "Petey can't get rid of him, at least not yet" (which I interpreted as just a good natured joke as opposed to a suggestion that EP40 doesn't want to play with DeBrusk).

IMHO, if Petey starts putting up a good year, you move him regardless. He is who he is, there’s no changing that. Everyone seems to be walking on eggshells around him.

I didn't have the same take on the Debrusk interview. I saw him making tongue and cheek comments but did not take it to be hinting at being antisocial or stats obsessed.

+1
I think there are certain media and fans that enjoy drama surrounding the team and when there is not any, they start to drum it up so they are happy again.

Stories now emerging that the problem at the end with JT was between him and Tocchet and unnamed members of the coaching staff. So it seems that management and coaches efforts to control/correct the JT/ Pettersson situation exploded with JT not being able to handle the feedback he was getting about locker room culture etc. The season starts shitty. JT's behaviour becomes more pronounced. Coaches have to step in with the tough love approach. JT does not take kindly to it. Confrontation with Tocchet. Leave of absence. Both parties agree he needs a fresh start. His agent works with Allvin to find a fit. JT provides a short list of east coast teams he will consider with NYR number one on his list but he does not ask for a trade and does not give just one team. He has a preferred destination and 2-3 other teams he would consider. Best offer Allvin got was NYR. Allvin also wanted to get JT to his preferred destination for agreeing to waive.
Tocchet's frustration was in that he would have preferred the Canucks traded Pettersson the year before to resolve the issue. Felt it put him in a tough position. He was told a deal with Pettersson was imminent and when it failed to materialize he told management the situation was untenable going into another year.
One of my old sources popped up over the weekend and shared what he believes went down. Takeout or leave it.
And it wasn't just his bullying of Pettersson, bullying was how it was described. He was like that to a number of younger players. But he also created a torn room. Most players like Pettersson and felt in the middle because they also like JT. In the end his teammates could not reach him any longer as he shut down and shut out a lot of players. It was gut wrenching for a number of them who loved playing with JT. But they also love playing with Pettersson. More so new leadership, ie Hughes, saw the impact he was having on younger guys coming into the team.
I think JT just burnt his bridges and I still feel its too bad because he was one of my favourites. He plays old school hockey and is an alpha male. But man he could carry this team his back on any given night.

And just a whole bunch more fingers pointing in the direction of Allvin and Rutherford for shitting the bed on how the situation was managed. It’s what they are paid the big bucks for - “to manage”. Simply put, both Pettersson and Miller should’ve been moved out a long time ago before the drama became stupidly fucked and out in the open. Proof in point - Tocchet wanting out - “I’m done here”.
The only hope now is if Pettersson returns to form and Foote carries on what Tocchet had started here. If not, the blame falls squarely on Rutherford and Allvin shoulders for not managing the situation better and more timely. What’s worriesome is, if Pettersson does not return to form does Hughes want to stay? And if he doesn’t want to stay do you trust the “managers” to “manage” Quinn-Gate? “Staying ahead of it”?
The domino affect of Miller-Petey-Gate could be felt for decades with this organization. It will certainly be discussed in great detail, dissected and disseminated over that time frame long after we are gone. I imagine old man Quadrelli will write a novel on it when he retires. His opus.

If Pettersson does not recover form then he is a boat anchor contract. That doesn’t guarantee Hughes leaving - maybe he likes the challenge of being captain, of leading a franchise that still hasn’t won - but surely it’s significant.
Thanks for the locker room info HW

It will remain to be seen but if Pettersson doesn’t find a way to crawl himself back into “foundational player” status along side with Quinn, helping unload that pressure from Quinn I have my doubts on Quinn wanting hang around without any help in that department. All the “Haves” in the League have multiple foundational players in their line up, Quinn all by himself here in that regard? I would surmise that that could/may greatly and potentially affect his decision making, or come into play. They (management) will know, we should know, at season’s end.
Petey/Miller/Tocchet-Gate ain’t over yet.
