Water started across the top of the slide early this morning. We'll see how it progresses through the day. Pontedera should be safe.

...can't hook into your FB links unfortunately.

I read this morning Engineer's are hopeful a more "controlled" breakthrough flow may occur (over a 12 - 24 hour period) as opposed to a more catastrophic, instantaneous deluge resulting in Fraser levels rising on par with "normal" seasonal occurences (whatever that means to them in this instance)...

...briefly looked for it to snip and link but I could not find it amlnd don't have time to dig in right now.

2pm presentation, based on 1:30pm observations

looking at a 6hr dam failure according to prelim modelling. 1r after water first crossed the dam flow was at usual river flow of 300m3/sec, 2hrs after water first made it across the dam flow was equal to max freshest numbers of 600m3/sec, 3hrs after first water across the dam water was moving at near 1000m3/sec and had risen above tradition river banks.

Difference between this and freshet, this is a sudden rush of water carrying a large amount of woody debris. Projections are 4m Fraser River rise at Lilloet around 9-10am tomorrow and 1m at Hope mid day tomorrow.

Water was dropping in the reservoir at 1.2m/hr at 1pm today. There will be a lot of slides both upstream and down stream along the banks.

Fun to watch this whole event.

Still avoiding Pontedera.

You never know when it's handy to have a resident geologist on hand at a hockey board. ;)

Thanks for the info!
