Developer proposes privately-funded Tukwila arena (suburb of Seattle).

It sure seems like the end result is going to be expansion to Seattle (and Vegas); however, I still hold out hope that the Panthers are moved to Seattle and we don't see expansion any time soon.

Man, u sound quite dazed. Your head OK? Not sure if it's the weed/alcohol or my "blow", maybe both.

Well, u asked a question, I had the courtesy to answer. Lastly, just look in the mirror man. I look at this garbage and I see "nothing". Most of your posts, u say "nothing".

*LOL* True. Boys will be boys. He'll take his shots, I'll return with some shots. This isn't the first time and it probably won't be the last. Both of us are pretty stubborn with our views. He's too messed up change; I beat to my own drum. Whatever happens happens.

u, pull your kids out and home school them now. Freaking lazy ass parents who do nothing and expect teachers to do it all.
U have been warned.

Yikes. That's a generous extrapolation getting all the way to "lazy ass" from my questioning your writing skills. However, I'll retract the original comment because I've never had a problem with your
on-topic posts. Carry on.

Really, Bernier is a top RFA? Even worse is Vey, maybe other GM believe this as well and Benning can swing a deal.

The best thing that could happen to us is we sign Matt O'Connor, that would then make it easier to trade Lack and promote Markstrom. We'd get a far better return on Lack at the draft

Mike Babcock says he will make a decision , within 10 days, if he will return to Detroit. The decision won't be based on money as he will get top dollar no matter where he goes. It won't be about promotional opportunity as he has repeatedly said he has no aspirations for a GM position as he does not believe that serves his skill set. So what will the decision be based upon? In no particular order:
1) relationship with owner
He has an outstanding relationship with Detroit's owner, one he often calls more than just business but very personal. He says it is a relationship of mutual respect. Sorta leaves Toronto out of the mix if this is a high priority.
2) relationship with GM
Well this is probably important to any coach. He and Holland have a mutual love affair. Their families spend a lot of off ice time together. On the hockey side, Holland allows Babcock a huge amount of input into personnel decisions. He is not a lame duck coach in that respect. He has input into drafting, player trades, call ups. You often hear coaches lament that they can only play the players they are given to work with. This has never been a Babcock complaint.
3) roster
Obviously a big one. He sounded less than optimistic about the future of Detroit with the number of aging vets, with various degrees of declining skills, still under contract. But more so questioning what the team will look like as these vets begin to retire or move on. Perhaps an indictment of lack of depth that can step up in the near future to play a meaningful role to keep the team an annual contender. Maybe seeing some step back years on the horizon, getting worse before it gets better? Does he want a team of youth, like Edmonton, a team in a demolition mode like Toronto or a team of underachieving vets that just may need a few tweaks and a new voice behind the bench like SJS?
4) time for a change
He has had 10 successful years in Detroit, but it is Detroit. His children are grown and he does have an off season home in Saskatchewan. Some speculate this may be enough to get him to take the Edmonton job, closer to home. But others speculate that his wife gets a strong say in this next chapter and she prefers the warmer climates. Could San Jose be on the horizon, a return to California for this hockey wife? Is it just time to move on? Has his message become stale after 10 years in one place? Is it time to strike out with a fresh challenge.
My money, if he chooses to leave Detroit, is on SJS.

Yeah, I think San Jose would be an ideal location. The fans are clamouring for a winner, the roster is still fairly good, the owner is one of the richest in the whole thing so money isn't an issue, and you can drive the convertible to January games.
If I'm getting paid $3-$4M wherever I'm going, I'm thinking San Jose would be a pretty good bet.
