2mil, a bit too much IMO but it is not a horrible amount.

Well, D is now set. Mancini and Willander can cook in the minors next year, if they are rocking, then a guy like Forbort gets traded at TDD

They really are keeping all their options open, if the imagery really is that suggestive.

Even so, I think we may have to hang on to our hats because we may see more significant roster surgery than some are thinking - or wishing.

Ha! Not enough core players to make up a poster.

Love it.

If that is our “core” we are in trouble.

The curious absence of Pettersson, Boeser, Demko and Hronek from the ad could be what I assume to be an executive decision made based on the risk management provided by the Canucks marketing department in discussion with the “powers that be”.

Glad to have Forbert back for a year. He was a mainstay on the PK and plays with some snarl, will protect his teammates. Term is right too. Gives all our kids one more year to develop. I think both Hirose and McWard need waivers next season as well. I would like to give McWard a look see. We know what Mancini can bring. Myers has 2 years left so gives us time to develop the right side. Forbert can play both sides. I approve this signing.

It seems very tin foil hatty that a billboard means certain players aren’t in the team’s plans. Honek’s NTC and Hughes preference to play with him means that move would be very surprising. I’d guess his non-inclusion is more to do with him not being a very media friendly/fan favourite player. Trading Demko makes sense to me if there is a good top six forward prospect coming back since they already made the mistake of hitching their wagon to Lankinen long term. Petey out the door means next season is a major retool/rebuild year and with Gavin McKenna and a strong draft class out there, maybe not the worse plan. They should be able to get a couple good top six forward prospect for Demko and Petey and a pick or two.

Basically the team would be playing a young goalie prospect in Silovs with a mid-level starter in Lankinen, lots of good young defensive prospects (DPetey, Mancini, Willander, KK) who need to go through their NHL learning curves which includes making mistakes, and a bunch of new forwards and forward prospects who have little chemistry, unknown ability and a need to learn the NHL game. Being in the draft lottery is a high probability.

They’d be hoping by the end of next season Silovs has shown the ability to be a starter and has superseded Lankinen, the young defensemen have taken jobs from Forbort and Myers, the forwards have started to gel, they draft McKenna, and most importantly Hughes still wants to re-sign.

Highly unlikely to work out the way they plan, but sure, why not. I’m game to put on the tin foil. If it does all work out, the team will be a force when their window reopens in 2026/2027.

Decent goaltending and defence top to bottom should keep us out of contention for McKenna. The forward group is winding up to be a major project that won’t be completed overnight. A tank rebuild I’m not seeing, the defence and Hughes will have to carry the load until we figure shit out with the top 6 of our forward group. We will most likely be drafting around the same position next year as this year. Who knows, stranger things have happened.

If the Canucks starting goalie is Lankinen and their best forward is Garland, they are going to have a top ten pick no matter how well their defence kills penalties.
