The expectation is that NHL players will be paid their 2020-21 contract year signing bonuses tomorrow on July 1, as scheduled. That’s an NHL expenditure of more than $300 million.

I was wrong, I thought they would do whatever it took to come to an agreement to push the date back on this.

I thought they'd have a CBA extension in place by today... guess not?

It kinda makes me feel like they're planning on cancelling playins/playoffs

... but hey, I've been wrong before. :)

Escrow will also need to be factored in on SB but at what rate? Projected 20 per cent figure for 20-21? Or a lesser number than that? As Jethro Bodine ( you kids look it up) might say, lots of cipherin to be done.

Also TBD in next few days, if players are deferring 10 per cent of salary for 20-21 (as may be the case), does it apply to SB monies owed now. Still some sorting out on these issues.

As has been the case recently, NHL-NHLPA negotiations on Phase 3/Phase 4 RTP protocols and CBA extension are going late into the night. Both sides know time is tight and the push is on to get this done.

It looks like they'll have a new CBA right away here and that it'll include the NHLs return to the olympics.

That is fantastic news

Both Hubs in Canada according to Global. A well deserved slap in the face to Trump’s management of Covid. I’m very surprised Bettman would allow this. Have to give him props on this one!

It’s not looking good for Donny. It just keeps getting worse for the megalomaniac narcissist. You can’t put a self serving asshole in a position that requires true care for humans beyond oneself. Donny only cares about himself. But are we surprised. No.

Well I can’t speak for Doc, that bit confuses me about him. But Donny has 3 kinds of supporters Rich Hillbillies, middle class Hillbillies and poor hillbillies. The poor hillbillies loyalty to Don confuses me but only a little bit. Donny and the Republicans don’t give a shit about poor people as witnessed with the unaffordable healthcare, one broken arm and the poor man goes bankrupt, that’s what rich hillbillies need - the poor to stay poor. Unaffordable healthcare is just a ruse to help keep them poor, like a stumbling block. This is why they accuse Canada’s healthcare as being communism. Remember ‘Commie bastards are bad bad bad people. The Rich Hillbilly Republicans need China for their production of cheap affordable goods sold at the poor people store - Walmart that make the poor hillbillies feel good in self deluding fashion “I just bought runners (made in China) for $12.99!! Thank you MAGA !” You see, the likes of the Koch Brothers and Briebart need the poor hillbillies to not catch on and remain stupid. The only real reason the poor hillbillies love Donny is Donny is their White Power saviour and Donny loves Jesus cause in the end Jesus will take the poor hillbillies to their promised land. Hallelujah!!!

America is f***ed as long as this cancerous system remains.

Some stuff to look forward to in modified CBA: Flat salary cap (unless changed, numbers were $81.5M next two years, $82.5M in 2022-23); cap on

escrow (starting at 20 per cent next season, moving down after that); return to Olympics (pending agreement with IOC)...

10 per cent of next season’s salary deferred; language for right to opt-out of Return to Play. Also, NHL fought for changes to contract structure — limits

on signing bonuses and less salary fluctuation on a year-to-year basis. We’ll see how that looks.
And I think looser Louis is owed about 3 million today...

 Just say NO to drugs!..(or LE)......... Relevant..
