Has Vancouver become the new Winnipeg Jets, where nobody will want to sign up and play? It’s a Royal mess here and the new crew seems to be driving it into a toxic wasteland reminiscent of the DTES. Where’s Kenny Sims when you need him? Someone take a flamethrower to the whole organization. No practice arena, goofball owners, WTF has happened?
"The biggest issue is exactly what the discourse is saying right now, all these speculations and garbage coming from the media about Hughes and past drama is exactly what makes players not want to play here and in markets like Toronto."

That quote is the heart of the article. Friedman and Maverick Mitchell can go pound sand. It's funny how our media can create a problem, hound the team for having a problem, deride the team for however it is handled, then say the problem they created is the team's fault and the team is a joke, because of the shit the media stirs up.

Canucks should hire Jory Jordan. If he can cover the NoSho, he can cover the ShitShow.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!

Yeah, that's just a re-hash. Half that shit you see on SM with these 'breaking news' stories is just AI-drafted clickbait that references actual stories. Either it's AI or a hundred monkeys, because the writing is horrid and obtuse.

I don't give it a lick of credence.

Was it a shitty, dysfunctional season this year and is it cause for concern for prospective FAs? Yup.

Is Hughes' status moving forward a key consideration to prospective FAs? Duh.

Does this mean Vancouver is not an attractive destination for FAs a-la Edmonton until they reached the finals? Nope, notwithstanding the unavoidable issues such as comparative income taxes in Canada vice the States. It's not like Lou the Lam is running the show telling players whether they can grow facial hair or not. Nor are the owners penny-pinchers when it comes to spending to the Cap, unlike Ottawa under Melnyk. Vancouver doesn't have the NYC lights and scene, nor does it have beaches like what they have in Cali or Florida, but neither is it in butt-fuck Minnesota (or Manitoba) or in the frozen climate of Edmonton (AKA - Hamilton-of-the-West).

Vancouver media like to sell gossip and Eastern media like to shit on every team outside of Toronto. Edmonton gets a pass for now because of the McJesus factor. C'est la vie, as they say in La Belle Province...

I agree, however I also believe that where there is smoke (rumours) there is fire (discourse). I believe there is an underground fire burning like a “zombie fire”. Explained - “Forest fires can burn underground, particularly during the winter months, and are often referred to as "zombie fires" or "holdover fires". These fires burn in the organic matter on the forest floor, like peat and humus, and can remain dormant under snowpack before reigniting in the spring”

Is the fire out? Seemingly. But something still burns behind all the cover ups, sort of like the incense Cuz burns to try and mask the smells from his chronic one-hit pipe-hits throughout a typical day for him. You still smell it no matter how hard he tries.

So I took this semi retirement gig locally and have been blasting prerolled logs between my site visits which works out to like 3-4 sessions per 8 hours day on average. It's the first time in my life I've been able to work while baked (electrical work being more dangerous baked). Fuck I love it! Nothing makes the day as enjoyable as smoking a few doobies throughout while scurrying too and fro...

Blob you should up your game. It's liberating

Sounds like hella good work if you can get it. :mex:

I wish I could do my job baked sometimes. It would help with the creativity.

Blob is looking for part time work. Thing is, I have no idea where i'm going. But im leaving here for sure. 55 and dipping the RRSP's but I need to do something and get my handsome grill out there and please some hot old cougar. I have a Stevie Wonder song going through my dome right now, while curious what Alicia Keys is wearing, and wondering if the idiot management will trade Hronek.

As Moneymay said:

"Step your game up"

"You know I keepsa private jet"

I'm going to torch up and see if I can finish mowing the front lawn that I started to cut yesterday. That was Monday right??? I got a fresh Mohawk, the beard is tight andIam enjoying the fuck out of the Memorial Cup. My lab got out the other day apparently was seen a couple miles away. Dumb prick made it home though.

Drance
Millstone tier
15. Elias Pettersson ($11.6 million through 2031-32)[/b

This is the big one, obviously, and the most difficult to analyze dispassionately.

When Elias Pettersson is performing to the level that he’s regularly managed for most of his career, the Canucks centre is an elite pivot who is a good bet to justify a top-10 NHL cap hit well north of $10 million per season.

At the pedestrian level that Pettersson has performed at since roughly the moment that he signed his new mega extension back in the early Spring of 2024, however, Pettersson is a serious millstone.

Truthfully, as poorly as Pettersson has performed over the past 14 months or so, he’s still been a useful contributor. It’s just that he’s mostly fallen well short of the lofty standards that we reasonably expect from a forward of his calibre.

Perhaps that’s controversial, but in truth, even in the depths of Pettersson’s struggles, he’s still been an effective two-way contributor who has scored at a 60-point per 82 game pace. He still draws penalties at an elite rate and helps the team win their matchups at the top of the lineup.

That’s worth about $6.5 to $7 million or so in this cap environment, especially given that Pettersson plays a premium position.

If Pettersson can’t recapture the glitzy offensive production and that game breaking element that was once a calling card of his game, however, then he’ll continue to provide negative value on an $11.6 million cap hit.
