I wonder what the fucking hold up is?
This is how you play the game.
Jimmy's patience builds the pressure.
It's already causing OEL's camp and the new GM to publicly snipe.
And you know the owners are getting on the new GM to get this done.
Yup. This is right about the time when the rookie gm gets his donut hole filled in.
This trade is a go. I feel it in the bong water, i feel it in the herb, i smell it in the air...
Its what Jimmy has been working on all week and his focus.
I really hope it’s not, and Demko better not go the other way if it does.
Can you imagine?? Our position of strength is reduced to nothing if Marky walks, and worse, if we sign Marky, then somehow, a minimum of 13 million in cap has to go the other way just to break even!
The 'Chain of Command' is the chain I am going to beat you with until you understand I am in charge.

You're gonna love OEL Blobby.
I like him. He’s a good hockey player. Would fit in here like a glove if he had five years left at 6.5 - 7 million per. At 8.25 for seven years.... he will be a good pick up for Boston.

Wait, what?
Well, OEL at 8 plus the 5 mil For Marky means the cap dump the other way is at least 13 million to have the same space we have now.
Sutter, Louise and beagle (plus Demko) for resigning of Marky and OEL.. that evens the cap out. And then in 2-3 years, OEL and Marky are declining and we still have 13 million in crap cap all over again.

Some people can’t handle a rebuild.. especially the last year of it. They push their chips all in a year or 2 early for a couple shots at the playoffs, instead of patiently building a 8-10 year contender.
As much as I want a cup, I would rather contend for 8-10 years like Boston, Chicago, Tampa, Pittsburg, etc.. rather than peak for a year or 2 and settle in to another 5 year rebuild.

We wouldn't be trading Demko if we weren't planning on re-signing Marx.
So you don't get to add the two salaries?
But reports indicate Canucks have refused to throw Demko in so...
If it's something like Joulevi + Virtanen + Loui + 2nd, it's a no-brainer.

This team will contend as long as the alien and Huggy are stars.
Other players/salaries can come and go.
Canucks aren't pushing in all of their chips either...

Good post and I wholeheartedly agree. I like OEL but that cap hit and term are a non starter for me. All of a sudden you have three guys making almost 30 million if Benning does the smart thing and extends “the lads” to eight year deals. Build around “the lads” instead of strapping a millstone to them. Unless the Yotes eat 15-25% it’s a non starter. Hopefully Elmer doesn’t get dry fucked again.

I’d rather have OEL than John Tavares
I rather not have a millstone on my neck for 7 years, to be honest.
I’ll do those 7 years to get 4-5 excellent years out of OEL. The guy is an f’n horse, his injury history or lack there of attests to that. And who’s to say that OEL can’t play excellent hockey for another 7 years? Edler is 6 years older than OEL and is still playing great hockey and Edler is not the horse that OEL is. I’m sorry but I’m getting old and this organization is over 50 years old and still no cup. Fuck patience, I’ve been patient for decades now. You want the pain of patience? Become a Buffalo Sabres fan
