Which makes banking on a 3rd line centre with a well known history of concussions and then flipping the first rd pick for another defenseman “again” in the Miller trade even more perplexing. I would’ve been happy keeping the NYR pick and drafting either centre man - Jack Nesbitt or wingers Bear or Eklund with the pick to go along with drafting Cootes. Definitely would feel better about our future forward group than I do now.

I almost started a new thread with that as the title just because.....but I figured Donny would just shove it in here anyways.

Petey has 8 points over the last 4 games, and 11 points in the last 8. The predicament is looking like it has a chance of sorting itself out. He's plugging a 0.90 PPG pace right now and trending to get on the positive side of that 1.0 pace. His face-offs are, unfathomably, the 2nd best on the team, and he is doing his dekes in the offensive zone at the right time. It's of particular note on the PP that he is often not the static fixture on the RW rooted in place awaiting the perfect setup pass. His success is coming from a lot of movement without the puck, and then getting the puck back while on the move.

My only two complaints right now are his skating and the ease with which he can be pushed around. The latter of these can be "overcome" by both the team gameplan and his decisions regarding positioning/movement (both on offense and defense).

Petey has been trending in the right directions. I will preface this first with, he isn't quite earning his full salary, yet, but........

considering the injuries the team has faced and his constant rotation of wingers, he has done well. Yes, he started slow but he has come around, so far. He is nearing a point per game pace while also getting the shut down match ups. Hopefully when the Canucks get healthy and find someone who can at least be a 3C and take on those top shut down match ups, F Petey can push the offence more.

Yeah, but was Mëds wrong (or Donny or the Miner or others) from before he signed his big contract until these last few weeks? He very much deserved it, but it's not even close to the dogpile faced by other Canuck frontline players like the Twins or Naslund.

Sure, the tongue-lashing was over the top, but so was/is the tongue-bathing.

At least Mëds is making honest adjustments because you can see the improvements to get back to some semblance of the player we expect.

The players can only do their best, it's the clowns that run the circus that I have no faith in. They should be dogpiled incessantly.
