Not really news, but more of an observation.

With the new signings, EP40 is now just the 15th highest cap hit. And next season, he drops to 18th. Probably even lower after more signings next summer.

That contract looks more trade-able every time the cap goes up.

Hell, if he manages to put up 80 pts, the contract may look reasonable comparatively speaking. Then management can punt him for futures.

Question is whether the Dickless Swede would want to stay here, regardless of how many water, draft lottery seasons take up his prime years. There’s a not-inconsiderable chance that he’s good with where things are at. He’s making a boatload of money in the bigs, in a city that isn’t Columbus or Winterpeg. With that no movement clause, he could stick it out and stay put through his most valuable years trade-wise.

Regardless how good his contract may look in coming years, if he wants to stay, we’re stuck with him.

Tolopilo is the only player placed on waivers today by the Canucks. Lots of players on waivers around the league (71) including these three from my AI list:

“John Beecher (C/LW) — The ultimate high-floor depth forward. With 165+ NHL games under his belt, he provides immediate, trusted bottom-six size and penalty-killing utility without a steep development curve.

Fabian Lysell (RW/LW) — The most realistic offensive upside swing on the board. If his AHL production can translate, you are getting middle-six skill rather than just a depth grinder.

Brett Berard (LW) — Adds a bit more pace and offensive upside to the bottom-six mix, though slightly less secure in his floor than Beecher or Gaucher.”

Beecher's intriguing - add some size to the fourth line, but no offense. Young enough to fit with the team.

Now that it doesn't seem Poitras will be waived, Beecher and Minnesota RD David Spacek (if waived) are probably the most interesting names left.

Yeah....imo they should be picking up a center even for a warm body at this point....

PK skills is a bonus as I imagine they will be killing a lot this year.

I haven't seen any today - we'll need to test it with an epic UW post.

So far so good Brian although I have yet to try anything overly wordy which seemed to be at least part of the issue.
