Why is Rutherford hanging around again?
I'm tryimng to figure that out in light of this newsw.
Yah. I heard a Nuck Army nerd say that u ideally need a guy (POHO) to buffer/insulate the GM from ownership and I think he's right. I do like JR and hope he sticks around to be that buffer, but @ his age and the team rebuilding, I can't fault him for leaning towards retiring. The Aquas do trust him as they handpicked him for the job. I guess he's going to help them find a new GM to hand the keys over to and then he'll slowly ease out and contemplate his future. If so, they'll have to find another guy to be that buffer/POHO.

One thing that has been mentioned is that he has convinced owners a rebuild is needed. So having him hang around as that buffer may help the new gm to stick to the rebuild as planned. It maybe in our best interest for one more year.

You're agreeing by disagreeing.
Not sayin', just sayin'.

Nor disagreeing.
Whatever is the 'right' move will be wrong no matter who is hired.
This whole thing is an exercise in futility as long as these fucking owners (TFO?) remain.
Exorcise the futility and dump AIG. Pitchforks and ropes anyone?

Wonderful. That 'one year rebuild'.
Hence my previous point. What are the chances of AIG hiring someone selling them on a vision for an actual rebuild? You mentioned this point nicely in a post elsewhere HW.
Not sure having JR around will have any kind of impact on that. If it does only for short term, what's the point anyway. It's doomed to fail, again.
New POHO will have to be staunchly in favour of a longterm, proper rebuild with no chance of wavering or kowtowing. Someone intimidating as fuck would be nice. Too bad Zito's not available. Liking the thought of Pronger but probably unrealistic. But again, how does such a candidate get hired let alone get past the first interview??

Everyone knows RoboSwede was a puppet.
Who is coming in to that scenario?
Who will try and manage hockey ops independently, as the Geriatric said they will be allowed to, knowing full well the way Alvin was treated and Bruce before him.
Combine that with the media leaks of personnel issues, anyone competent is staying away as long as Diaper Boy is eating his Jello in Vancouver.

...so the Doan thing makes some more sense now with Ray Whitney's name tossed in the rumour mill.

Two more Mammoth wins and any chance George parts ways with VGK? Not sure what his contractual obligations are but if we can pry him outta there another potential candidate. Started here with Pat, can come full circle and finish the job 30 years later.
GM for POHO
RJ for GM
Done. Try meddling with that, Waternoodledick.

People see the Calder Cup win and rave about the job he did building that team.
How much of that team was constructed by Rutherford and Allvin via draft picks and free agent signings? The GM of the farm team isn’t building the roster and organization to the same extent that the GM of the big club is. There’s a reason his title is Assistant General Manager, Vancouver Canucks and General Manager, Abbotsford Canucks.

Yeah....the Calder run was an anomaly in my estimation.
Nice, fun to see and all but the end result is we still have a shitty NHL team with shitty NHL players and the Calder winners are not arriving to save the day because they don't exist as evidenced by the fact we also have a shitty AHL team the very next year.
RJ is part of the JR/PA regime (as you say)....
...same as the old boss.

The Abby Canucks played like a cult in that run.
Ya’ll should give some credit to Manny for that.
I think you guys are missing the Pat Quinn vibe Manny is throwing off.
There I said it.
Hiring RJ means Manny will be coach sooner than later.
RJ going elsewhere means Manny’s going elsewhere, Canucks loss.
