I know it's not the UN. LOL
Other than Canada & the U.S., I think about some of the other governments and regimes and dictat/ sorry, scratch that one, and I don't know if I'm quite ready to be a member yet.
And there's just something about those first 7 letters of that word that sickens me a bit...

Hey, wouldn't it be ironic if someone like Russia/China bought into the alarmism of today's environazis

... fed their bullshit into their computers

... and computer models told them the only way to save the planet is to reduce the population by a few billion?

Definitely not the UN !

Global community = the 195/196 sovereign nations that are economically intertwined.

At the moment there doesn't seem to be an international body that can do anything about enviro/climate change.

Which if we circle back to the topic it seems there is a leadership vacuum not only in the US but globally.

Incidentally I just heard on the radio that Trump would reduce corporate taxes from 35% to 15% (whatever that actually means)

The worry there is if corporations get off the hook, who's picking up the slack ?

Oh wait right, corporations will take the savings and invest in jobs so the little guy can take up the slack...

Bhahahaha!

Are saying the corps you mention should get a 20 percent reduction?
I'm wrong in pointing out that all things being equal that reduction would need to be recouped from somewhere?

It would seem only two possibilities exist, either a corresponding cut in social spending (not just social welfare but infrastructure spending, policing, emergency services, health, and that oh so dirty word...education) or an increases in taxes from non-corporate sources. income taxes, sales taxes, property taxes, fees, surtaxes, levies, fines etc etc.

Well we've tried austerity cuts in BC from Bennett to Christy. They are trying it in Europe as we speak and the result seems so far to be a continual downward spiral of wealth for the middle and poor classes and a continuing upward spiral of taxes for the common man.

Meanwhile, lol out fucking loud, those corporations you mention can't make a living fuelling 1,000,000,000 automobiles, 7,500,000,000 peoples homes?

I may not be a smart man but I know bullshit when I smell it...

You cannot answer the question because it can't be answered, that's the point.
No matter what you would propose, it would mean representation from all those 195/196 nations.
All that means to me is 196 agendas and quite frankly, that scares me.
Call me a pig, an ass, call me anything you want, I don't care but I will tell you one thing Laddy;
It's not perfect but I have appreciated my life and the freedoms that we have here in Canada and the U.S. and I will and would do anything to keep it that way. If that, in people's opinions, makes me an isolationist, tough shit!

Reducing corporate taxes can create more jobs and incentives can be put in place to help it happen.
A healthy economy swing usually happens when consumers have more money to spend.
For me, that means; Rib eye steaks instead of chuck steaks. (actually, chuck steaks can be good to if marinated.)

Actually, lowering the tax rate from 35% to 15% would be a 57% reduction. :|

Ah... so you do not want to abandon market economy and free trade?
Sorry, had me confused there for a while. :|

Remember the Boston Tea Party?
The thing they were protesting was a tax on imports.

Free trade is and was at the very core of the guiding principles of the American revolution.
And Sweden helped circumvent the British blockade by allowing American vessels to dock at the Marstrand free port.

No need to thank us.
It's what we do. It's who we are. :drink:

Nice try! If it wasn't tea taxes, it would have been something else.
American Revolution or War of Independence?

Personally, I would love to tax some of the cheap-shit foreign products we are forced to buy and give our local North American entrepreneurs a fighting chance, hence creating more local jobs in second industries and a more self sufficient economy.
But hey, thanks for the help... :P
