9) Benning was lucky to have Brackett line up his picks for him and we will see Benning's real drafting moving forward, except this year were he has pissed away a 1st and 2nd. Who does that when you are rebuilding?
10) Miller, long term isn't worth giving up a 1st especially for one lucky career year.
11) we are in cap hell with no sane way out and it will cost us another high pick or one of our young stars to get out from under this mess
12) happy we won but have to see it without rose coloured glasses on. Its all luck. Thank god for COVID because otherwise we would have missed the playoffs. Wait, doesn't winning the Cup require some luck along the way, not just skill?

They don't get one ounce of credit. I don't know if any hockey fan will truly disagree that building a solid young core is more important than finding support pieces for that core, especially in a cap era.

It doesn't mean had Nonis stayed he would have accomplished 2011. But Gillis certainly couldn't have done it without that foundation that was already in place.

JB isn't quite there yet, but he has essentially done what Burke, Nonis and Gillis did (razed, built, supplement) in a much shorter timespan so far.

Gillis left us with a top goalie, a 1B centre who’s the capo, and the teams #2 and #3 D men.

I’m good with current management despite their initial struggles. Not sure why a guy who last worked here 6 1/2 years ago is constantly brought up.

Funny shit. Search Gillis under the Chef’s profile... the system can’t keep up and count that high. He’s obsessed.
